Guest guest
Dear members In previous message we saw how drug lobbies are influencing health policies of the government. Lobbying and compelling governments to provide allopathic medicines in the name of right to health is a pseudo and half-baked movement. Another disturbing trend is being seen in India. In order to create drug market, highly subsidised dignostic test plans are marketed on "anniversary day" or similar occasion of the company/hospital etc. THose who never had any tests for diabetes, lipids etc fall victim and the tests expands drug market. Cholesterol and its relation to CVD model itself is a controvercial issue. Since only city people are generally involved, damage is limited to cities. Much important however, is inteference in the food of the people. In last two years, the sale of iodised salt has fallen in India by 36%. The manufacturer's lobby got concerned. Quoting some WHO reports, salt is made responsible for lack of Iron and Calcium in pregnant women and children. Bowing to them, now the sale of ordinary sea salt is about to be made "illegal" in India, after the farce of "Dandi march" a few months back. While evryone knows that smoking is injurious to health, cigaret manufacturers escape by only printing a warning on the packets, that too only in so small aprint that nobody even reads it. Howver, salt gets totally banned! How salt has been used as a means of politics, especially in India, can be read at: http://www.mkgandhi.org/articles/the%20story%20of%20Salt.htm WE had posts on salt and its influence on health, obesity, depression et earlier. The website curezone.com also outlines the importance of the sea salt. Housewives in India can build up adequate stock before it disappears from the market. Better still, bring pressure on local representatives (Member of Parliaments) not to repeat political history of salt. What british government did a century ago, same history is about to repeat. Guest guest
Dear members I read Bhanutikare's mail. What is said about dignostic tests are correct. But What is written about usage of salt is not at all correct.Govt is always promoting iodised salt. Websites may write anything as many of the websites are fraud and backed by lobbies. Guest guest
The move by Govt to ban sale of natural salt was proposed about six months back and was dropped due to public resistance (Msg# 3579]. Which salt is good can be determined by evry individual for himself. The tests are given in Message 3055. However, for salt, author used one more test. The Jalneti contains salt, in a little quantity. Author found that natural salt cools down the mind, since salt minerals are absorbed in brain through thin mucous membranes between sinuses and brain. Similarly, since nose contains endings of various nerves, the salt minerals and those in water are absorbed there. With natural salt, neti and subsequent breathing exercises become very pleasant and invigorative. ON the other hand, iodized salt (may be due to iodine content in small amount) gives irritation, inflamation and anxiety/restlessness for next two to three hours. Do not believe what is written here. Take your own experience, may be iodized salt may prove nasya medicine for you. Author finds it difficult to understand what motivation may drive the websites on natural remedies to promote natural sea salt rather than iodized one! Guest guest
Isn't the additive "Aluminum silicate" a good enough reason for not using refined iodizied salt? What the companies add to the salt in the refinement process is not a matter of personal experience and control. Reffered from the link "Ordinary table salt that is bought in the super markets has been stripped of its companion elements and contains additive elements such as aluminum silicate to keep it powdery and porous. Aluminum is a very toxic element in our nervous system. It is implicated as one of the primary causes of Alzheimer's disease." http://www.curezone.com/foods/saltcure.asp Shirish Bhate <shirishbhate wrote: The move by Govt to ban sale of natural salt was proposed about six months back and was dropped due to public resistance (Msg# 3579]. Guest guest
In ayurveda seven varieties of salts are used to prepare medicines and sea salt is one in them called SAMUDRA LAVANA. We have almost lost the identity, purity and identification of other six varieties like vida lavana, souvarchala lavana, romaka lavana, saindhav lavana, chullika lavana; but not with surprise none of the medications made out of thease salts are unavailable on the name of ayurvedic drugs. Hence if we are going to loose this salt too, what surprise in that. We have forgotten many ancient food and grains alongwith the healthy life style suitable to our country. If our thinkers have adopted the path of globalisation by following the path of so called developed countries, it is bound to follow them in all walk of life, economy, industrialisation, culture, dresscode and everything. At this stage nothing seem to be possible to change we have already finished halfway and we can not afford to take U-turn now. Hence let it go in its way on the name of god. none can help. bhanutikare <bhanutikare wrote: Much important however, is inteference in the food of the people.
