eggs do not spend an abnormal amount of time in the digestive tract

if prepared properly they are rapidly broken down and absorbed by the

GIT

because they do not contain any fiber they are very efficiently

absorbed and there is little if any residue left in the intestine

this is why they do not contribute to the fecal bulk, because they

contain no fiber for the bacteria to ferment, to create the bowel

movement that most people think is undigested wastes (unless in actual

fact, there is undigested food, but in the case of eggs you would see

steatorrhea or poor fat digestion, typified by a whitish, floating

stool - very common by the way in celiac disease)

secondly, the cholesterol in your food has no bearing on the serum

(blood) cholesterol level - the latter is synthesized by cells in the

body in response various stimuli and is NOT derived from

cholesterol-rich foods - furthermore, total serum cholesterol is a

mostly useless diagnostic tool - physicians know well the difference

between LDL and HDL cholesterol, but often don't explain this to the

patient - there is also much evidence to suggest that the whole model

of LDL:HDL is seriously wrong, i.e. as LDL levels fall the risk of an

MI actually increases!!!

free-range, grass-fed eggs, or what they call "common" or "yard fowl"

eggs here in Trinidad, are a very healthy and nutritious food

as part of a low carbohydrate plan to control diabetes and reverse CVD

they are a very helpful dietary ingredient, with lots of versatility in

what might seem to some a rather restrictive diet

however, if eggs really don't agree with you then you should listen to

your body - i think it would be almost impossible to tell what affect

they had on your cardiovascular system immediately after eating them

(unless you have an allergic response), but in people with poor

digestion they may be too hard to digest until agni has been restored

as for the links between Chinese medicine and Ayurveda they are not so

clear, and while there are some similarities it is safer to suggest

they are distinct systems that have unique principles - culturally, the

Chinese will eat almost ANYthing that walks, slithers, swims, sits or

flies, which is pretty much opposite to the traditional Indian ethic

for eg. Chinese dietary states that pork is excellent for constipation,

but i doubt you'll find many on this list nodding their head in

agreement (anyway, i can't stand pork...) - there are also

disagreements over other food articles, such as honey, which the

Chinese routinely heat and cook, most famously, actually BBQing

licorice (yashti madhu) in honey to enhance its digestive properties

eggs are a very important food in Chinese medicine, and consumed by

most people on a daily basis

while all foods have restrictions, eggs were never considered a food

that needed to be avoided - this is a modern nutritional concept that

has only been with us for a few decades - unfortunately it is a dogma

that has made its way into supposedly holistic circles, like Paul

Pitchford's deconstructionist tome "Healing with Whole Foods," which

basically ignores the history of chinese medicine, and bends and warps

Chinese dietary principles to meet the needs of his rather strident

vegetarian polemic (i.e. he really promulgates a kind of macrobiotic

hi-bred)

I am not allergic to any foods, though I have a heart problem and I

do know that when I eat eggs(I don't anymore consciously) that it

will effect me negatively, and I don't have any food allergies.

Eggs are very rich in cholersterol, calories which may be good but for

people with heart problems or kidney problems, poor digestion I would

say that it is not a healthy food, (I have all of these ailments)

It's the yolk that is the problem, not the white.

My yoga/meditation teacher says eggs are static food also, and this is based on

Tantric science, yoga, as they expouse vegitarianism for

overall health.

You may be right, but I am going on my personal experience

Dear chotawa,

If a a person with heart problem, i do suggest eggs are better to be

taken with black peper powder .2-3 pinches of pepper powder to be sprinkled over

the pieces of boiled eggs and can be consumed.

As in ayurveda pepper (Mareecha) with its unique pharmacological activity

called "PRAMADHI" cleans and clears all the channels in the body including

coronary arteries. In this context "BHAVAMISHRA"author of

"BHAVAPRAKASHA"described the effect of mareecha on heart as"HRUDAYANILA

NASHAYA".
