Guest guest
in ayurvedic medicine eggs are highly nourishing foods - in clinical nutrition all foods are compared to the egg yolk, in terms of their nutrient, vitamin and mineral content - it is the gold standard of nutrition eggs have taken a bad rap as of late, because of the concern over cholesterol and saturated fat, but all of this can be seen to be absolute nonsense - i myself eat lots of eggs and in some patients I have had them approaching 40 eggs a week, with healthy lipid profiles and a healthy weight - we always encourage people to get the free-range, grass/vegetable fed variety the idea that egg yolk is 'static' (tamasic?) isn't something I can relate to because it is not borne out by any kind of methods I use or results that i have seen - the only time i have seen problems with eggs is with the whites specifically, which can be an antigenic food and needs to be cooked properly - certainly you could ascribe qualities to eggs such as guru, snigdha, sthira, etc. all qualities of kapha in the vedic tradition the universe began as an egg - eating one perhaps aligns you to the cosmic potential? anyone can say anything to fit in with their philosophical outlook - all i know is that ayurveda is much more pragmatic than that > > I have a yoga/meditation teacher who follows Indian tantric science, > and says that egg yolk is a static food.
