Medicine-free approach - 3

In this post author wishes to describe in brief a new revolution in

yoga and ayurveda occuring in India. A yogi from Haridwar,

Uttranchal, Shri Ramdev Maharaj is teaching yogasanas and Pranayama

techniques in many cities of India. His training program runs for a

week, 2 hours a day. Simple breathing techniques which he teaches are

mainly derived from Patanjali hat-yoga, but slight variation here and

there with specific diseases in mind. His training programs are

attended by at least 5 to 10 thousand participants at a time. Fee for

entire week ranges from Rs 500 (UD$ 12) onwards. Those who cant

afford this fee can learn at their home, since entire program is

telecast on TV channel, free.

During learning these techniques, participants also learn about

various simple medicines containing few herbs, which they can prepare

at home. Due to intensive training, sometimes obese participants

loose 5 kg body weight in a week. And several, who continue the

techniques at home later, find that their obesity, diabetes (both

types), angina pains, hypertension, kidney problems, migraine,

asthma, collitis and several other chronic problems get improved

beyond imagination. Coronary artery bye-pass surgery reqirement gets

bye-passed! Testimonies are also called on and recorded in TV.

The objective of discussing the training by Ramdev Maharaj is two

fold. Since he has determined not to go abroad at least for few more

years, those of you suffering from chronic diseases branded

as 'incurable' by modern medicine and residing abroad can come to

India and visit 'Macca' of health. The second objective is to discuss

that breathing techniques which he teaches.

In second post of this series, author discussed the relation between

obesity and liver. Liver, spleen, pancreas, intestines are all

connected to Nabhi Chakra. Swadhistan Chakra is suspended from Nabhi

chakra as per yoga theory. Sex organs are also activated by

swadhistan chakra. If you have gas, indigestion then you know how

libido or erectile function also disappears. The breathing techniques

cause belly breathing, which invigorates Nabhi Chakra, slowly. Once

Nabhi chakra gets active voice becomes more clear and resonating. The

breathing techniques taught by Shri Ramdev Maharaj activate six

chakras, very slowly as the participant continues practice.

Mandukasana often introduced by him invigorates pancreas, so

diabetics of type I benifit. Similar benifits may accrue by

practicing advanced yoga techniques discussed on the , but

yogasanas with breathing techniques yield benifits much more rapidly.

The secret of yogasanas and breathing techniques yielding so many

benifits is also one more. Along with Chakras, the nadis which travel

all along body organs get activated for rapid conductivity of cosmic

energy. There are several important Nadi-vigyan critical points

located all along legs, hands, chest and a large number on stomach.

14 energy meridiens mentioned in chinese texts have some access

points on our body which get pressed during yogasanas adopted by

Ramdev Maharaj. For instance, the Vajrasana manipulates Liv, GB, K,

St meridiens points, in addition to strengthening swadhistan chakra.

Those of you who are interested in seeking further details can visit

divyayoga.com, website created by organisation represented by Shri

Ramdev Maharaj.

In future posts in this series, author will discuss the scientific

background on how the breathing technique create energy and activate

chakras.
