Guest guest
| | tamaso maa jyotir gamaya | | Dear Mark Kincaid, This is a very interesting topic you have touched here and I appreciate your knowledge on both sectors of the Vedic knowledge. Since many years my predominant interest is Jyotish and I see a great value in using Jyotish to determine a persons Prakruti and complete physical constitution. I have now started to study Ayurveda and see the connection as a great help to understand many of the aspects. As you know the moment of birth determines the whole experience of our worldly existence. It is this moment that gives us astrologically a great knowledge about everything a person has planed to experience. At this moment the constitution of the body is fixed and so are the "nija roga" (self/internal diseases) which the soul of the native has brought with him/her. If you are the descendant of a golden delicious apple tree you can not change into a pink lady or even a cherry, however intense you try. You have inherited a great deal of your future karma at this moment of birth and this is not due to bad luck or bad will of the lord. As described in the Gita we find many explanations on the concept of karma and inheritance. Taken this into account we have a plan for this body which is described as fixed karma, 8th house diseases. There is a possibility to alter this karma and to reduce the effects but it is not as easy as it might be seen by some keen and enthusiastic practitioners. And usually it is not in the practitioners hands to change this fate anyway. It is the grace of God who can alter and release such pain if we have faith in him and follow a certain path of purity. Then there is agantuk roga, self inflicted diseases and problems which we have the chance to control to a certain degree. They can be read through the 6th house which is an Upachaya house. House of growth. If we apply the lessons of life as a teaching and accept the learning we have a chance to improve from the misery. As a sample we can take the digestion which is governed through the 6th house. If we eat McDonald for a long time we get sick as it is beautifully described by Supersice Me. Do we accept the sickness as a learning and stay away from this food we have learned the lesson, and life will improve. Wether we need one or many more lessons until we have understood the learning is entirely our choice. All aspects of disease which are controlled by agantuk roga are as you describe "easy" correctable and can be prevented through medical help and education. But what if the 6th house of Agantuk roga is heavily afflicted. Is learning possible? Is it possible to hear if Jupiter is very weak and afflicted or will the patient get the insight if Mars and Sun do not allow insight to happen. Talking of a fatalistic view is not right as it describes a view that is fixed and stuck. We have to understand Jyotish as a tool to see much more then the disease. Jyotish is a tool which is capable to determine all aspects of the learning. Jyoti = Light/knowledge and Isha = God. The knowledge is described as an insight into Gods plan of life. Jyotish does not cure and does not change. It only brings light into darkness. Insight and understanding is the goal which are the basis of healing. We should not believe that a medical practitioner can alter karma. Only the patient himself can do so if we assist in the right way. Never give false hope. Every disease is a sign which wants to teach us something. So it is our duty to search for the deeper meaning of this lesson and to teach a satvic life. Use Jyotish in this way and lead a patient to understanding. Bring light into the darkness, as self knowledge is the base of all knowledge.
