Guest guest
It appears that in Non-steroidal drugs, there are other ineffective candidates too, as reported in published research. Though these are not yet linked to breast cancer or other chronic terminal diseases, are we not putting too much trust in them? We all think that painkillers such as paracetamol and NSAIDs can provide quick relief from osteoarthritis - or do we? This most basic level of medical care has been questioned by the results of several studies recently, which suggest that neither is as effective as we thought. Vioxx, Celebrex were withdrawn recently. The most surprising is the effectiveness - or otherwise - of paracetamol, whose painkilling qualities have been a given for the longest time. But when researchers tested the effectiveness against a placebo on people with arthritic knees, 52 per cent in both groups reported an easing of their pain. Similarly, those who used a topical NSAID cream to help their osteoarthritis fared no better than those who rubbed in a placebo cream. In India, TV propoganda for a certain brand is at its highest pitch. Looking at it another way, placebo was as good as any drug, which indicates that mental suggestion could be a powerful painkiller. This is supported by another study of 40 rheumatoid arthritis sufferers whose pain was reduced by meditation. They were taught a form of meditation called mindfulness, which focuses on the breath. As they reduced their stress levels, so their pain decreased, researchers discovered. Author plans to give post on Ayurvedic and naturopathy approaches to Rheumatism and similar inflamatory diseases in next few weeks. However, this group belongs to all. All members should contribute their knowledge, experiences, concerns. Let us all work together to create medicine free world. The dawn is already there! It is true that people with mobility influencing diseases can not carry out any exercise and doctors keep telling them that the patients must remain mobile to preserve whatever residual mobility is left. Yoga offers certain techniques which dissolve the stiffness of muscles slowly. And ayurveda has much to offer to pacify the immune system which is destroying tissues in the joints, as a result of auto-immune diseases. Most auto-immune diseases are the creations of chemical rain resulting from pollution, pesticides, chemical fertilisers, etc. To give you a simple example, the bridge of the specatcle frame which rests on the nose is made of acrylic polymer even in expensive glasses. Many patients are noted to get allergies and very slow progressing skin cancer starting from nose skin. Darla, please bear with pain for few more days and await good news. In the meanwhile you can learn good yoga and meditation techniques at advanced_yoga_practice. While yoga should be learnt only with an experienced Guru, meditaion can be learnt by self practice.
