Dear Doctors,

As I have realised, Ayurveda is not only a branch of medicine but also a

supplement to moral and spiritual upliftment. As a result ayurveds are

conversant with various allied subjects besides being extremely observant. They

also have a very healthy common sense and sharp intuitive knowledge. This is

because nothing less can be accepted while dealing with the finest creation of

God: Man.

I am very happy that we have very good ayurveds on our list. It gives me a warm

feeling to know that in case of any difficulty I have the help of the best

doctors just a click away. And they are so helpful it takes my breath away. I am

looking forward to the day when Ayurveda will occupy its rightful place in India

as the system of first choice.

Now on a simple way to obtain herbal extracts. Many of you may be aware that

herbs form a very important part of the Homoeopathic Pharmacopoeia. A majority

of the herbs used in Ayurveda can be thus obtained from homoeopathic pharmacies

in tincture form. As alcohol is used while making these tinctures, the shelf

life of these tinctures is also high. You just need to know the botanical name

of the herb to get the herbal extract needed.

These extracts are used in drop doses and can be combined together. The

pharmacist is usually aware of the dosage.

This method is for those who do not have easy access to ayurvedic herbs. I would

recommend the book, "Drugs of Hindoosthan" by Dr Sarkar to know more about these

herbal tinctures. Alternately any materia medica of Indian drugs could be

consulted.

Regards,

Jagannath.
