Guest guest
Dear members The tide seems to be turning! The researchers are now researching dangerous side effects of modern drugs rather than new drugs! Most of us have used some form of pain killer whenever there was some form of pain, from headache to menstrual or joint pain! But here is a warning for Aspirin, widely used as basic drug anti- coagulants for people with cardiac problems to drugs containing ibupropen, most widely used as analgesic and anti-inflamatory basic drug. While pain killers and their influence on the acidity of digestive system is well known, their connection to breast cancer is published just yesterday, in the National Cancer Institute Journal. This subject, though does not come in the scope of ayurveda, but the findings increase stress on ayurveda and natural herbal approaches in fast changing global village. Please read on: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/news/fullstory_24960.html an article on link between male hormones in women and their possible connection to breast cancer is published in the same journal on May 18 this year. Members requested to treat this as topic of month and post views on pain killer herbs from ayurveda, which are much less harmful. Guest guest
Dr. Bhate: This is not good news for those of us with arthritis. I take both drugs and wake up in the middle of the night with pain frequently and take more ibuprofen and a warm bath or put ice packs on whatever hurts the most to get back to sleep (ice seems to help most). It is easy to tell a person to exercise, but if that person can barely move for the pain, then that is very hard to do. Something that attacks the root of the arthritis instead of the symptoms only would seem to be in order. It often seems that these drugs all cause as many problems as they help: my doctor just put me on prevacid to help with the reflux the ibuprofen causes. I think with polypharmacy comes more complications, but have noticed that many of the ayurveda drugs seem to be compounds and the ones I have taken have not done any damage like the ibuprofen and seem to work at least as well. I feel I am making a deal with the devil anymore when I take anything.
