Guest guest
off the top of my head, if not caused by injury (acute and/or chronic) or a brain tumor, tinnitus most commonly relates to a few basic factors: -ojas depletion, vattika in origin, with P and K vitiations, usually concomitant with other vataja symptoms, including fatigue, weight loss, infertility - interestingly enough, in Chinese medicine tinnitus is classified as a kidney qi/yang deficiency which is synonymous with ojas depletion/vataja symptoms -impaired blood (and prana) to the head, primarily congestive in nature (kapha), with inflammatory (P) and degenerative components (V), more closely associated with vertigo and aging, i.e. cerebroatheroslcerosis -local muscular spasm, primarily paittika or vattika, representing a state of excess tension and irritation usually in response to emotional stress, but also occurring in some types of muscular disease -congestion of the middle ear, usually caused by excess cerumen or specifically, when somebody pushes their ear wax against the ear drum in an attempt to clean it (hence the warnings never to stick cotton swabs into the auditory canal itself) if caused by injury, or if local degenerative process are extensive it is almost impossible to cure if caused by impaired blood flow or muscle spasm it is easier to treat if caused by ojas depletion it can take long term rasayana therapy karnatarpanam, pranayama, and herbs to reduce phlegm, ease muscular spasm, enhance blood flow to the head and reduce vata may be indicated depending on the particulars please note that NSAIDs like aspirin as well as antibiotics can cause tinnitus, and should be discontinued in some very rare cases some forms of tinnitus might be associated with kundalini disorders, particularly if it occurs with other altered perceptions some call it the 'nad', the cosmic vibration hope this helps Caldecott www.toddcaldecott.com
Guest guest
Thank you. This is fascinating. I will work on my ojas. I doubt it is a tumor, since I have experienced it off and on for 5 years, however, without an MRI it is hard to be completely certain. My doctor always says my ears are full when she looks at them and I have rheumatoid arthritis for the inflammatory connection (and the NSAIDS). Oh, and I am going through perimenopause and am not fertile. It amazes me how accurate everyone on this list has been in their responses. What all the responses do have in common is that they have mentioned Vata problems, so I think I will start there. It had occurred to me that I may be on too many medications and I am trying to taper them down to the bare minimums.
