Guest guest
Dear Anand Welcome to ayurveda. Many would like to step in your shoes if that slim body was assured. Generally, development of the body stops by this age, and whatever enrichment occurs, it is only to maintain the status. If you are able to maintain the weight, muscles, it is most healthy state. Some persons, who lived beyond 95 years, had similar height and weights. Some answers to your question have been provided by Cybervaidya while discussing the subject of Prakruti, please see recent posts. However, if you really try hard, you may achieve at least some success. A post discussing your question is already posted earlier, see message no. 1823 by clicking on following link http://health.ayurveda/message/1823 Please refrain from eating some costly food suppliments being imported in India. Eating dry fruits is a sure way of building health and energy, if not heavy muscles. Make a search under the keyword "dhatus" in our group messages and you may see several ways to build up dhatus. Flesh (Meda) is one of the dhatus which gets nourished, and builds up weight. What is important, however, is to build all sapt-dhatus and ojas. Several posts refer to ojas. If you see archieves, you may find a very interesting post by Durgesh Mankikar, where he says that height, weight, muscles is not the criterion for health, peace, happiness and progress. Guest guest
hi Anand it is difficult for me to judge if you are truly underweight without knowing your height if you were my height (178 cm) then this would certainly be underweight, and would suggest taking measures to enhance it - such a low weight would be associated with a greater tendency to vattika diseases, impaired immunity, bone/joint problems, anemia etc. - if you are otherwise healthy then obviously its not a pressing concern since you are still young it is likely you will continue to put on weight, albeit very slowly as you age - however the weight you want to obtain should be equally distributed all over the body, and not only around your waist the most building foods are those that are heavy in nature, such as dairy, meats, eggs, animal fats, nuts/seeds and fermented grains - however, you may not be able to digest these well enough to absorb the nutrients properly, and so you may need to consume these foods with herbs that ensure proper digestion - at the same time don't excite the system too much, i.e. chilis enhance digestion but promote weight loss, whereas milder herbs such as hing, ginger, cardamom, the 5 salts etc are good for digestion but won't overexcite the system - to borrow from western herbal medicine a little bit of bitter taste is often very good to enhance digestion and promote weight gain, such as chiretta if your digestion is good consider building herbs such as ashvagandha, bala, shatavari and yasti, with a little ginger or cardamom; or if not, combine them with the digestive-enhancing herbs; a useful western herb to increase healthy weight is saw palmetto fruit; in chinese medicine they might use any of the ginsengs, or even deer antler velvet muscle-building exercise is key to putting on healthy weight - this can include martial arts (e.g. kalari), calisthenics and even the more vigourous yoga asanas (e.g. surya namaskar) - even with all these measures you may only be able to put on a few kg, but i suspect you would feel happy with even this small amount lastly, it is worth looking at some underlying cause for you weight issues - perhaps an endocrinal abnormality is at play, or perhaps there may be an issue of intestinal parasites - i am not suggesting these are actually the case, but you may want to look at them best... todd caldecott On Mar 28, 2005, at 7:27 AM, ayurveda wrote: > i am anand,23 years old & new to this group. > > i need some help from u all. > > i have slim body & low weight(51 kg only)& as compare > to my age it is to low.i want to increase my body > weight & improve my body in good shape. Guest guest
Dear Dr. Gopal; Would you mind explaining why the recommendation for Guduchi in this situation? Is it the cooling/blood/liver purifying but rasayana balance to the trikatu's heat and stimulation of liver activity? Perhaps Anand is from India and easily can find the other herbal compounds, but we do not know what these steps 2 and 3 are. I am curioius to know more, is why my queston.
