Guest guest
Dear Esteemed Community; REcent conversation with a medically intuitive physician involved discussion of what he says are about 6 as yet "undiscovered" glands attached to the inside of the omentum and outside of the small intestinal wall. Their function he says is something to do with secreting a hormone which facilitates body intelligence to fix itself, to self-repair. Does anyone from ayurvedic training relate to this information? His experience is that most people at least in the west have these glands very underfunctional and coated, sounds like, with aam. He reports that pumpkin seed oil taken in doses it seems about 1 TBS 2X daily for variying lengths of time (1 month plus or minus) help cleanse these glands and prepare the body for other healing work. REminiscent of pre-Panchakarma oleation therapy, although this is not same bioconstituent actions in other ways. Martha
Guest guest
Martha, Is there a web site that has this info on the six glands or was it a paper in "Nature" or "Science". Many thanks Ray >REcent conversation with a medically intuitive physician involved >discussion of what he says are about 6 as yet "undiscovered" glands
Guest guest
Hi Ray; Neither, it was a semi-confidence from as I said, a medical intuitive, Dr. David Vermeullen, who explained he is being given the guidance that very soon he will be working with a team which will involve among other things this information. Perhaps the research we would like to see! Martha > Is there a web site that has this info on the six glands or was it a paper in "Nature" or "Science". Guest guest
Dear Martha, Per se the study of anatomy followed a different path from modern anatomy. While it is true that today an ayurvedic graduate has to undergo both the modern and ayurvedic study of anatomy, the ayurvedic part is somewhat neglected. There are many concepts in ayurvedic anatomy which cannot be explained or co-related with the knowledge obtained by modern science. There is no concept of 'glands' or 'hormones' as we know them today in ayurveda. So the question of having any information on as yet undiscovered glands does not arise. However if you do have to co-relate one pointer would be to look at the place where vata, pitta and kapha is produced as per ayurvedic concept of digestion. As you may know there are five types of each mentioned. Kapha is reponsible for repairing the wear and tear of the body. That would explain five. The sixth may be either vyan vayu which roams in the entire body and whose work it is to take the various nourishing products to their respective places in the body. Or it could be sadhak pitta which is responsible for improving intelligence. This is just a far-fetched attempt to co-relate with the information you have provided and has no direct mention in the ayurvedic texts. For the second point maybe that due to built up of aam if the channels (strotas) carrying these ingredients are blocked, the oral intake of pumpskin seed oil may be helping in opening up or clearing up the strotases. In that case even an external application of pumpkin seed oil should be beneficial. Guest guest
Dear "Cybervaidya"; Whether this concept is valid or not - and it certainly makes some sense, I find it interesting to consider and appreciate your response. I had not been exposed to an ayurvedic information theory about a place where the three doshas are "produced" per digestion concept. Are you referring specifically in this situation to the digestive system, that some focus has been identified there, or the more systemic view?
