Guest guest
Dear Friends; I had a friend come in yesterday with unusual bowel challenges, so much upward moving pranas and bowel not moving 2 weeks. SHe had been doing enemas long time, now they do not work. She had fasted 4 days to deal with it, got too weak, still eats very little fibre except vegetables and some unleavened rye bread (which I said to stop a while!) and very little fat except EFA3 blend and some olive oil - ghee or coconut makes her feel nauseated, curl up in a ball and be disfunctional several hours. Vata so high, skin so dry, drinking lots of room temp water does not do anything. As accupuncturist (which she prefers not to use on herself) she knows the bile duct is blocked; such points on her leg very tender when massaged. She is a yoga teacher of rare gift, still teaches her classes usually. Rape when much younger and has no sexual experience since. Lives in ashram setting, and downstairs now from the ashram teacher who also has no bowel movement she says. Interesting! I have seen this tendency on spiritual path but not so extreme before. Psyllium (Isopgol) was suggested and she says can NOT use, it sticks to her bowel and does not eliminate. Advice given is to be gradual, first get the bowel moving with regular use of very thin kitchari/congee and the vegetables and olive oil, ample carminatives and reintroduction as tolerated of oil. We encouraged/fed her a thin rice congee with some dhal which she said felt so good. And 2 days at least try only warm or hot water/teas, no cool water. I also gave her hot "Bengal Spice" (chai type spices without black tea) with a teaspoon of slippery elm which she liked very much. She so much wants to eat, has the appetite! I insisted she get on massage table (took no convincing for external hot oleation/abhyanga; her entire energy field shifted to more in her body (of course). Any other suggestions would be welcomed. She self-muscle tested no at the time for triphala, although I will suggest again. She has been dairy free, but willing to do whatever puts her into balance except meat. She still asked me so sincerely, "do you think this can be healed?" And requested another massage soon. Of course I affirmed! PS, this is not a postpartum woman, she has not had children and is in her 50s. Guest guest
Please check her nabhi chakra. If displaced upwards, it causes constipation of this type. people on yoga path need to be very careful, especially as chakras become flexible. if displaced upward, a simple treatment works as given in message no 1451. May require repetition two-three times and rersult will be known in a day. Nadi vigyan subject brought recently by Ray Norohna, plays a role here. If an expert is available nearby, better consult him. Frequently, lifting a heavy object, jumping, extreme yoga may cause this type of problem. If displaced downward, loose motions is the result. Health is nothing but the correct equilibrium of all chakras.
