Guest guest
I am currently a student of Ayurveda, I am going through the online course developed by David Frawley. In addition, I am studying Mayan Healing techniques. My massage and yoga practice is based on using Traditional Healing techniques from around the world to support women's health from teenage through menopause. I am having a hard time doing the research on specific Ayurvedic practices to support issues such as infertility, difficult menstruation, pregnancy and labor, menopause. The texts I have are so global, I was wondering if there was a good Ayurvedic text specifically addressing women's health. Any help would be appreciated. Guest guest
You can refer english translations of charak samhita, sushruta samhita. Women related description is available in Sharir sthaana, and under 'Yonivyapat' in chikitsa sthaana. Kaashyapa samhita has a lot more description. This would be of help to understand the subejct in depth. MN
Guest guest
Hi Dina; There is a vaidya from Nepal who comes annually to teach both in Mt. Madonna Center in California, and at the Rocky Mountain Institute of Yoga and AYurveda in Boulder, Co. She will be in NY this year also mid June. I actually have been asked to transcribe the tapes of her classes to put into a book with work of three of us, but am not getting to it yet. She continues to offer these classes on many topics of interest to you in detail; I also will be teaching again this fall on the ayurvedic postpartum approaches I have been trained in with significant value I've seen over 13 years practice and accumulated continuing ed. It is very interesting and I'd be happy to share more about some options in the US. There is a midwife in Boulder who has studied many of these things in more depth, also an Indian woman who studied with Dr. Lad 3 years and before that was in practice as an OBGyn. Several other women vaidyas to my knowledge even I could give reference practice in the US. Feel free to contact me.
