Guest guest
Does anyone know of any links between the use of vacha (acorus calamus) causing heart problems? I know some of the compounds in vacha are amphetamine like but I'm not sure how much of a risk they might pose to the heart such as other amphetamines do. -Robb
Guest guest
Vacha or acorus is used in many clinical conditions including heart diseases. Cardiac conditions like ischemia can be very well treated (safely) with formulations containing vacha. Its one of the best medicine for heart disease due to 'Udavarta' Dr. Nesari eulogy44 wrote: Does anyone know of any links between the use of vacha (acorus calamus) causing heart problems? Guest guest
i have heard this before, but vacha cannot be equated with amphetamines to get any kind of psychoactive effect you would have to consume an almost impossible amount, at least 50 g but its so bitter, pungent and aromatic most people couldn't consume enough of it - they would would vomit long before such a dose could be obtained however, i do suggest that where possible people select the diploid North American variety, which does not contain the beta asarone found in the triploid, tetraploid and hexaploid asian species that has been linked to liver cancer - the asian species should especially be avoided in people with serious liver troubles Caldecott todd
