Guest guest
C-section reasons Dr. Mankikar, I think you are right about c-section births. My wife had a baby 12 years ago in the U.S. She went to a midwife. She did not tear when delivering. Her midwife said that the mothers she attended rarely had tears in the perineum. I think that the way the midwife trains the mother and "coaches" the mother has a lot to do with it. I would suggest that pregnant mothers ask their doctor or midwife what kind of record they have for tearing, C-sections, etc. It can vary alot. GB Khalsa There may be truth to your assumption of weak paelvic muscles, but it is also more because of prenatal vitamins, and diet of th emother that there are larger and larger babies in general. In the US, it is not unusual to have 7 1/2 to 8 lb babies routinely. Many women that do deliver per vaginum, end up having birth related trauma, needing repair of tear of the introitus. Your other points are correct, Durgesh Mankikar,MD
