I am overweight and been eating a mostly kapha-reducing diet for a few weeks and doing dry and oil massage in the mornings before my bath and doing yoga (10 or so sun salutes a day for now). I am eating only if I am hungry and stoping before I am too full. I eat ginger with lunch. I am going to bed before 10pm and getting up before 6am. I am not drinking alcohol. I have noticed my GERD go away and my ankles are not inflamed anymore. I think my skin is getting dryer and more clear. I am losing weight steadily (though very, very fast in the begining). So far, does that sound about right? Any suggestions to what I may improve? Also about honey. I am in the USA. Is all honey uncooked when you buy it? I have seen some honey in the health food store that specifically said "raw", but is other honey ok as well? And I like to have tea in the mornings and at night. I like honey in my tea - is this ok or will it "cook" the honey? Thank you for your help! Jennifer Sounds like you are doing well. Keep living in this way. Don't forget to add meditation into your routine. Most honey is cooked when you buy it. Use the "raw" honey. When honey is cooked it becomes toxic. From what I understand...adding honey to tea will not cook it. It needs to get rather hot and tea never gets above the boiling temp. The regular honey in the store is processed at a high temperature which cooks it. Just don't bake with the raw honey. Raw honey is best.
