Guest guest
Dear Roberto, Welcome to the group. You have not mentioned your exact problems apart from the fact that you were taking the drug accutane (I do beleive it was under prescription and not self treatment, whether it is awful can be a debatable point :->) and suffered from it's side-effects. Apart from that whatever list of herbs (and formulations) you have mentioned are OK for the symptoms you have associated them with in your post. I do hope you were not taking them all at one go. Most of the substances you have mentioned would be better in powder or tablet form. There are many good books on ayurveda and related subjects available nowadays. Just visit the site I have added in the books folder under the links section. Cybervaidya
Guest guest
Dear Cybervaidya: My symptoms right now are: Hypoglycemia Rapid heart rate Fatigue Bloating Occasional insomnia and anxiety Postural hypotension Difficulty concentrating And, as I said before, I think that my liver is pretty congested and that my adrenals are not working 100%. I haven't taken the herbs so far. I wanted to know your opinion first. About the accutane, it was prescribed under medical supervision. I also got monthly tests to look for liver abnormalities and other things like anemia, low white blood cells, etc. There were never any abnormalities in my blood tests during all the course of the treatment. Thanks a lot for your valuable help, Roberto ayurveda, "Cybervaidya" <cybervaidya> wrote: > You have not mentioned your exact problems apart from the fact that > you were taking the drug accutane (I do beleive it was under > prescription and not self treatment, whether it is awful can be a > debatable point :->) and suffered from it's side-effects. > Apart from that whatever list of herbs (and formulations) you have > mentioned are OK for the symptoms you have associated them with in > your post. Guest guest
Hi Roberto. Have you ever considered gluten intolerance? Guest guest
Hi Lara: I thought about it some time, but I wonder how do you know if you have gluten intolerance. Maybe by means of blood tests? Thanks for your help, Roberto
Guest guest
Dear Roberto, Ayurveda does not beleive in giving one drug per symptom. The symptoms you have mentioned point towards vata disturbance rather than anything to do with liver congestion. As I always recomend it is better to get yourself checked by an ayurvedic physician personally before starting any medicines especially if you think the symptoms are side-effects of your previous medication. Meanwhile among the list you have provided you can take tulsi tea, vidarikanda (shatavari or ashwagandha would be better), and jatamansi powder or decoction (shankhapushpi or brahmi <i believe that is what you mean by bacopa> would also give the same result - reliving insomnia and helping in concentration). Jatamansi has to be taken only before going to sleep. The other substances are either not helpful for your symptoms or contradictory (specially do not take guduchi if you have hypoglycemia). A good oil massage prefarbaly with aromatic oils will be especially helpful. Cybervaidya

Guest guest
Darla, Welcome to the group. If you go over last fortnight messages, you will find some material on prakruti, posted by Cybervaidya. This material will tell you how ayurvedists get confused when someone from west says "I am very much Vata, Pitta or Kapha". Anyway, by reading your message, this author noted the words which are put in inverted commas in your message appended here. And accordingly, preliminary recommendation is given in message: http://health.ayurveda/message/2516 instead of tonic water, try tender coconut water. Cool down summer and heat with pleasantly tested rasayana jam in above message and nerve cooling natural coconut water. Obesity is a very complex issue, and in a remote guidance of this type, difficult to cover You may also see: http://health.ayurveda/message/3197 http://health.ayurveda/message/2431 http://health.ayurveda/message/1680 Dr Bhate ayurveda, "leethe9" <lethe9@g...> wrote: > > > Hello, I am new to the group and have been reading and learning. Guest guest
Thank you very much Dr. Bhate. I will try some of that. Already I like rose petal jam very well and I cook with coconut milk. I should have said that when I am in balance my prakruti seems to be mostly vata. Cow's milk does not agree with my digestion, but I can try the almond milk and I love dates. I will keep reading; this is a very good list and very interesting reading. I am not a medical professional, but a folklorist, so the list interests me greatly on a professional level as well because it seems that much of the West is finally starting to realize the value of the more traditional medicines in the last 20 or 30 years. I am wondering if that is just my own perception or if others have found this to be so? Darla Wells
Guest guest
Dear Darla, I am not the Dr. Khalsa you mentioned but I do know him. I am not sure if it is good to do cold showers when you are sick. the vaidyas on this forum would know better. Usually you need the fever and heat to "burn " out the infection or sickness.
