Guest guest
Dear Chotawa; > Though Maharishi Yogi has been discounted because of his carnal > desires for Mira Farrow, when she went to India with the Beatles. > > > Maharishi Mahesh Yogi advised practitioners of his meditation to > > not use accupumcture with needles, as it drains the subtle chi It is my understanding that this "discounting" was the work of rumor and the excitable press which was following that fun loving and rowdy bunch on their visit to India. I know that Mia Farrow was of a more refined character and it seems no one but God really knows what went on in Maharishi's private session with her; it seems more likely to me that the Master saw benefit to give her the opportunity to experience her own refined consciousness nature more intimately yes but by virtue of the powerful grace alone which he has exuded for decades. I would not even be surprised if she gave a teasing intimation when questioned what went on later, to protect her more subtle spiritual experience. EVEN IF at that time the accusation was true, I have seen his works and words and experienced his grace and exquisite impeccablly enlightening discourses on the vedas for decades since. Like Shrila Prabhupad of the Hare Krishna movement, he has lifted so many from their falls, many times. Maharishi started millions on their path with their first initiation into effortless transcending this lifetime. I think maybe too many to be a personal guru to many, but that was not his dharma as I understand. Even a master's style has to change depending upon the audience, and the larger audience at Beatles time required I'm sure a different style than Mia's heart! It seems to me an unjust assumption by the wise that a man of such great untiring gifts to the world, including such a major role in the revival of Ayurvedic medicine and in particular it's source and relationship to the development of spiritual consciousness in the west should be so easily discounted. I personally have difficulty being affiliated much at all with "his" organization, but that is something different. And in that regard, Dr. John Douillard, Ayurvedic physician called the best "white man" ayurvedic pulse assesment practioner in the US once shared with me. He said he had clients who were leaders from every spiritual group/ashram/master represented in that city (and there are MANY!. Every one of them shared with him about problems within their organization, and they all, he said, have the same interpersonal/organizationsl problems. Sigh. It is the master's duty to give his students seva beyond their skill level. So my final reflection is much compassion on what the masters have to put up with! And, whether accupuncture is innapropriate for every path, I doubt this is true also, but question what happened to my own subtle meditation experience for 2.5 years after receiving a course of such therapy. It helped my health, and there were other factors. Who knows? Sometimes to trust a master's guidance is wise! Kind regards. Martha
