Guest guest
Namaste Sherry, sorry for the late answer. I am Delphine (France) and I am studying Ayurveda. Firstable, reading your mail you look like you have a unbalance (Vikriti) of Vata and Pitta dosha. You seem to have more of a Vata Vikriti. But in reading your pre-menopause symptoms you might be of a Pitta constitution (Prakriti). Hence the aggravation of Vata dosha, more exactly of the balancing air force called Samana Vayu and the descending one called Apana Vayu, might cause Pitta dosha, more exactly Pachaka Pitta situated in the small intestine and the duodénum, to move up and entering the stomach, hence causing the heartburn. Then the ascending air force called Udana Vayu is moving up the Pitta dosha and cause the hot flushes etc... I would then try to rebalance Vata dosha, more specifically Apana Vayu. At the same I would keep Pitta Dosha, more spcifically Pachaka Pitta, on the "look out". I would be curious to know why those heartburns have decreased for the last 6 months. You should try and reflect on those time and see if you were not then accepting something more, or kind of letting go of some controls etc. Since when are you taking those hormones you are talking about? Could you tell us what they are? As a treatment, there is a simple formula that is an anti-acid one : - Amalaki 1 part - Shatavari 1 part - Licorice 1 part - Dry ginger 1/2 part This formula diminishes Pitta and Vata, and lightly increase Kapha dosha. The dosage and frequence are as follow: 2 grams 3 times a day. As anupana (vehicle) I would suggest you try with fresh organic cow or goat milk (warm). On your diet, you should avoid spicy, fried and oily food. Also avoid wine, gherkins, pickles and sour food (fruits, juices, vinegar etc.). Also avoid light and dry food. You should have cooked food instead to ease your digestion. In the formula the ginger will give a boost to your digestive fire (Agni), but regarding the Pitta Vikriti I have prefered to let the part of ginger at 1/2. Later on you can see how it goes with the heartburn, hot flushes etc. Soothing food is advisable, as whole cereals or dairy (no sour like yogurt etc). Also try to have your meals at regular times daily. If i would see you in person, I would before hand check if you have toxins or not (Ama). You can look at your tongue in the morning and check if it is covered (which color?). Also I would check the state of your Agni (are you often hungry - physicl feeling?). Those are the first thing to rebalance, along with the diet. I would also suggest that you find some quiet time to meditate, even 10 mns twice a day. A very pacifying mantra is Sham (insist on the M). Try it for 10 mns twice a day at regular time. You should also inquire on pranayama and Yoga. It is obvious that you need to let go. Hope this helps you. Please if you feel like it, answer the questions I am asking you, and give us feedback! Blessings and Namaskar, Delphine
