UN to investigate sugar industry funding of WHO consultation on carbohydrates

A United Nations agency has launched an investigation into claims that a key

consultation into how much sugar we should be eating was secretly funded by the

sugar industry.

 

The BBC's Panorama programme has uncovered documents that reveal that the World

Sugar Research Organisation and International Life Sciences Institute, both

funded by the sugar industry, helped pay for the Expert Consultation on

Carbohydrates in Human Nutrition.

Melatonin - a molecule for the modern age

New developments in the continuing saga

Melatonin - an unusually controversial biomolecule - is not only a powerful

hormone, synthesised in the pineal gland and secreted into the cerebrospinal

fluid and the circulation - but has multiple functions, being a potent

antioxidant, powerful anti-cancer agent and involved in preventing ageing,

reducing jet-lag and assisting sleep.

 

Whose Truth about Vitamins?

The ICM formulated its response to the BBC2 Horizon documentary, The Truth About

Vitamins, broadcast on 16 September at 9 pm. Following a discussion with the

Alliance of Natural Health, it was found that our responses were very similar

and it was decided to issue the following joint comment. Those who saw the

programme are also encouraged to register their comments with the BBC.

 

Air fresheners - not to be sniffed at!
