Guest guest
Hi Connie; What is it about Dabur Brand you don't like? I have taken to using it, like that it is more suitable for V/P, not so spicy, and that it doesn't use honey. Took it on Dr. John Douillard's reccomendation, as he thought it was the best commonly available in this country. Price is good, and they now put a nice layer of silver paper on the top, feels good. But I'm no expert either. I used to order herbs from Bazaar of India till I discovered Banyan Botanicals ... almost always order from them now. They do retail or sign up with wholesale account (minimum $40 orders for practitioners). They have fresh and organic herbs whenever possible also, prices quite good. www.banyanbotanicals.com, but you won't see wholesale unless you call them. Guest guest
Dabur brand is very low quality, and actually is not the best for Pitta - quite heating. Read some of the previous posts from others. Blessings, Connie
Guest guest
one interesting fact related to me by a colleague in India is the amount of amla in Dabur Chyavanaprash apparently Dabur exports more Chyavanaprash than can be accounted for by the domestic production of amla and because India doesn't import amla, the question begs: what exactly is in it? for anyone that has ever tasted real Chyavanaprash, they will all agree that the Dabur product is pretty poor in comparison real Chyavanaprash is smooth, sweet and buttery, something that one would imagine to nourish the dhatus: not chunky and sour like the Dabur product - the silver foil they put on top has no function or purpose i'm not sure why other companies don't export their product to North America, other than that they are simply too small Arya Vaidya Sala (AVS) for example is one of the leading manufacturers in the south and generally have pretty good products, but I've never seen their stuff here partly i think this is because they are restricted by labeling laws, and are required to put "Ayurvedic Medicine" on the label any product that says "medicine" on it raises red flags at US and Canadian customs I'm not sure how Dabur gets around this restriction, unless its the sort of typical baksheesh in the right hands, or maybe because Dabur's product isn't authentic it gets an exemption the Chyavanaprash I had were from small companies in Kerala, made in small batches these products work very well i have used the Dabur product and to be honest i think it's a substandard product Caldecott todd www.toddcaldecott.com
Guest guest
Many commercial products including Daber are made from extracts and do not have any of the qualities of properly made chayvanprash. That black sour tarry quality is not correct and it will cause pitta symptoms especially for those who already have pitta problems, it is very sour. Proper chayvan prash should have a balanced rasa and it should never be overly sweet or sour. Proper made chayvanprash can be bought in USA from companies like Banyon and Maharishi. But they are expensive, it would be helpful though to buy at least one jar of those products to see how true chayvanprash tastes. Once I was given two jars of homemade chayvan prash in Rajisthan, they were made by priests of the family temple of the Somani family who are related to the royal family of Jaipur. I was told that the Maharani of Jaipur has taken that product daily for many years. She is still beuatiful and stunning in her eightys. That product was so balanced that it did not even turn the milk it was made in sour, delicious. One thing I noticed in this true chayvanprash is that the spices used were perfectly balanced and no particular rasa dominated. One noticed a clear increase in energy after two weeks of taking that product twice per day.
Guest guest
Hi Martha, Banyan may be selling organic herbs but that does not mean they are not contaminated with heavy metals. This is a unknown factor that most consumers are not aware of. You may want to ask them to show you a lab report proving that the herbs are free of heavy metals. If they can't produce one (as I have asked bazaar of india to do and they promptly did), good luck on gambling with your health and "hoping" the herbs are safe. Guest guest
Dabur brand is very low quality, and actually is not the best forPitta - quite heating. Read some of the previous posts from others. Blessings, Connie I think that we people have some concepts about things without real knowledge and this is just another example. If some company is big and succesful it does not mean it is bad...Dabur Chyavanprash is not the best and not the worst. It has original recipe(43 inredients) and 46% of Amla. Trust me that such a big firm would not write lies on their product... (and if this is the case i welcome the experts to check what is really inside) It is upper class of middle quality which is actually preety good for such a big firm. (believe me i am not making EPP for Dabur company) There is many good and many bad products on the market-so we have to use inteligence to get good ones and not support the bad ones. And all this fanatical paranoia about increasing doshas it takes away beauty and relaxation in life... Every chyavan is a little bit heating, but if you compare it to every day diet ... It is so little increasing pitta it is not worth mentioned it... And its healing effects are so great that it is incomparable to it. That much. with Love and Respect.
