Guest guest
Dear List, I too have observed that Chavanaprash does not suit everybody. Personally I am unable to take it because it contains clarified butter which does not suit my stomach. If one is taking it for immunity or to reverse ageing one can as well take Trifala which contains both Amlaki and Haritaki which maintains and regulates the digestive system as well as builds up immunity to colds. For anti stress and anti ageing one can take Ashwagandha, available as "Stresscom" from either Dabur or Baidyanath. For my own cold related problems I take a preparation called Pankaj Kasthuri which contains most of the ingredients of Chavanaprash in a powdered form sans the clarified butter. Himalaya's "Septilin" is also a good protection against chronic cold. I'm sorry to know that ayurvedic medicines are so costly abroad. I think we should go to the websites of the prominent pharmacists and lodge a complaint. However Maharshi Ayurveds preparations, though costly in India also (but not $50 in any case!), are very effective. I have used "Cardimap" for high BP and cardiac ailments, and "Pirant" for rheumatism on my parents and got wonderful results. Regards, Jagannath.
