Guest guest
My doctor has indicated that I have high blood pressure, the reading was 141/81 and has been in this ranch for the past 6 months. He would like to place me on medication, but I asked him to give me a couple of month to see if I could bring it down with diet change, exercise and herbal treatments. In searching on the web I ran into the Ayurvedic herbal remedy called Muktavati. The wed page indicates that his herbal remedy will reduce high blood pressure as quickly as in 3 to 4 days. Have you folks heard of this herbal remedy and does it work as the web page claims? The web page is herbscancure.com.
Guest guest
Beware of Fast Relief Medicines "Doctor, I am tired of this knee joint pain, your medicines are acting but very slow; May consult someone else?" One of my patients aired her worries. "Go ahead, but stop all my medicines". She consulted a vaidya in well known hospital, brought home some tablets in paper bags given in hospital and bought very costly tablets and capsules costing nearly Rs 300/- a week, prescribed by same practitioner. Within a fortnight her pains reduced to nearly 50% level, so brought all medicines to show to me. After smelling, testing the paper bag tablets, they appeared to be classical medicnes, but costly tablets and capsules were patent formulations of less well known pharmacies. The contents were combinations of several concentrated extracts of standard medicines mentioned in ancient ayurvedic texts. In last 5-10 years, Indian market is flooded with several such medicines for treating Rheumatism, Gout, PMS problems, etc. Since taking several classical medicines in Tablet, Arishtam, Ghrutam, Kashaya form is time consuming, requires preparations from patients side, patients are also preferring such medicines . The fast results is an added attractuion. Does a system which is adequately documented, practiced for thousands of years, requires research? The reasons for formulating medicines not referred to in classical texts is to patentize them or obtain brand equity, a pure monitory benifit aim. HOwever, it needs to be noted that fast relief is obtained as a reaction of the body under black mail of a concentrated, micro form medicines. Digestive system has not been able to adjust to the new environment fast enough. "My pains are significantly reduced, but now I am having indigestion, constipation and fatigue/weakness" exclaimed my old patient after another week of taking fast acting capsules. Slowing down of hunger, pulse reading etc indicated slowed down liver. Perhaps due to toxin build up from concentrated extracts and may be mixture of chemical pain killers with ayurvedic extracts. Difficult to tell. The strong action medicines or when too many medicines are given together, body is black mailed to behave in certain way. India does not have strong F. D. A. which requires lengthy clinical trials, strong statistics, etc before a drug license is issued. And many small pharmacies make many medicines under popular names, and these are available over the counter. Attractive commissions to those who prescribe them and sell them are also available. The objective of this mail is not to weaken the confidence of the people in ayurveda, but to make them cautious while accepting prescriptions, buying medicines, etc. Enquire well with similar patients, the authenticity of supplier, etc. With reference to the mail reproduced below, which made this author write above comments, the blood pressure is not a disease, but a symptom. If you meditate seriously for 10 days (there are many opportunities in India, say at Igatpuri, Maharashtra, where you can be taught meditation without any cost), blood pressure goes down by about 20-30 mm of Hg. Treat disease, not symptom.
