Guest guest
Dear Friends of Ayurveda; I received this post to my group, perinatalayurveda recently, and am not trained to properly answer it. Hakim Shiva <hakim Hello Martha and Group, Can Polycystic Ovarian Disease be treated in much the same way as Uterine Fybroids? (same basic herbs, castor oil packs, essential oils, foods) And is surgery the primary option after the cysts/fybroids reach a certain size, and what is that size if so. Thank you for all of your fierce devotion. Namaste, Hakim. Dear Hakim; Speaking of fierce devotion. You honor us all I believe with your question, and I invite anyone's input. PS re site posting; I myself find the easiest way to post messages is to go to www. and my groups, then go to this one. The process is touchy re which email address you use and how messages are addressed. Interesting I just spoke for an hour with Nancy Phillips, ayurvedic practitioner trained by Light Miller in Florida, who has (I mentioned her to you) excellent success with fibroids. I do not have answers much for you here to your quesiton, can only offer my thoughts. #1, certainly makes sense to treat similarly. I'd add slippery elm to the herb/teas understanding that it helps the body keep from creating cysts, according to an intuitive's advice only I can speak this. #2 I really don't know what the disease is by the name, and as you probably know from our common training in Boulder, we are bound to support body systems and such rather than treat/diagnose diseases by name, in ref to our relationship in the medical profession. #3 Nancy's experience is with smaller fibroids, say to large lemon, to date. Dr. Buhrman in Boulder suggests that the larger ones require surgery. I am only reporting. Re Nancy's protocols, I'll share as I get them typed up, with her blessings. WE would I expect all be delighted to hear which you are currently using as well. She focuses on liver flushing, hormonal balancing, emoitonal feminine ego damage, pitta/kapha excess and high ama, includes pitta reducing penetrating and reproductive specific essential oils with castor oil packs 3 times a week only for 2 weeks in addition to her other regimens; sounds much more effective than what Dr. Buhrman is experiencing. NO affiene, low protiens, (esp animal and dairy), no dairy, very low estrogens incl don quai, (esp the synthetics from all forms incl cleaning and body care, saran rap etc), low on tissue building herbs incl ashwaghanda, increasing agni without aggravating pitta, other such issues are involved. For the few weeks; then 5 cups daily of a special herbal brew is included as her focus medicine including dandelion, burdock and others. I will be inclined to include chitrak and pippali among herbs in higher kapha, similarly some clove and essential oil of it as well. More later - blessings; Marti
