Guest guest
Dear Robert, The practise of yoga is as simple as it is difficult. Sometimes actions which seem correct to the practioner are not really as they should be. You require an expert yoga teacher to point out the exact mistake. It is well known that yoga if done correctly gives immense benefits but at the same time if done incorrectly can lead to complications (both of the serious and humorous kind :-> ). It would be virtually impossible to tell what is wrong unless somebody watches the person concerned performing yoga. You could contact your teachers at Jeevamukti-NYC and see if they can help. Also sometime ago you posted about the "compass pose". From what I could gather from the net this is the name given to "Suryayantrasana". "Surya" means "sun", "surya-yantra" is "sun-dial". So in this asana the position becomes like a sun-dial. I will have to check if this asana is mentioned in yogic texts or is a recent addition. Maybe somebody related the sun-dial to a compass and hence the name compass pose. I think you already have information on how to perform this asana from a query you posted on the yoga.com forum.
