Grusher Kaur,

Feet and head are two extremeties of the body, throgh which body

rejects excess heat. Ayurveda opines that heat rejected through feet

is Ok but through head is undesirable. The excess heat is extensively

discussed by Vinod in another message posted today. You should read

that message along with this.

For immediate relief, you can try following:

Get up early morning and walk barefoot on green grass with dew.

Soak during night 4 dates or 8-10 resins in a cup of water (125 ml)

along with 1/2 tsp coriander seeds, 1/2 tsp cumeen seeds (both seeds

coarsely ground) and take everything early morning empty stomach.

Soak again for consuming in evening.

Twice a day, apply cow ghee or castor oil to the feet bottom and

massage for 10 minutes. When done at bedtime, this promotes good

sleep also. We, in India, use a special cup to rub the bottom of the

feet. The cup is made from an alloy of copper and zinc and tin. Such

a cup is customarily given in Rajastan and Gujarat, to daughter when

she marries, so that she can cure the insomnia/anger of husband by

this simple remedy. The heat is rejected through feet now, cooling

the head which promotes the sleep and reduces anger.

I do not believe that vinegar and soda powder have the ability to

solve this problem- try applying anti-fungal medicines if you can see

cracks along the outsides of the soles or fungal infections between

the toes - in India many people suffer from burning dry cracked feet

from mold infections.

If one does not have these cracks but just a feeling of burning or

after trying anti-fungal medicienes cooling oils are helpful such as

coconut or chandan - a good cooling combination is a few drops of

chandan in coconut oil. Old washed ghee is extremly helpful for this

condition. The traditional yoga therapy for this problem is simple

til oil - because this problem is seen as a vata problem if no

infections are present.

One approach is to put oil on the feet and massage the feet well at

bedtime and put on socks for sleeping. This will need long time use

to ultimately help as this is often a deep disease of vata/pitta

origin. Do rule out fungus and mold infections before giving up. Oil

by itself will not be very useful in fungus infections. Yet if it is

not an infection oil alone left on the feet continuously is often

very helpful. Keep the feet clean and oiled.

Dear Gurusher Kaur,

What happens when you do shoulderstand? You may want

to try that. Since you do Kundalini Yoga and if you

have the "Sadhana Manual", try doing the "Spine and

Flexibility" kriya. It helps almost anything.
