Guest guest
Dear Dr. Bhate, I wish you would explain furthur about using the eggplant. You gave this recipe but later in the post said that one should not take wind forming foods like brinjal, which I believe is also eggplant. Is this the only way one should take it? Should that person eat the whole one or two eggplants a day? Thank you very much, GB Khalsa - Bake one or two egg- plants. Mash and fry in about 2 tablespoons of castor oil. Spices like cumin, coriander, turmeric, garlic and salt can be added while frying. Dosage: Take once daily for two to three months for relief. ---
Guest guest
Dear GB Khalsa, Brinjal is an egg-plant. There are various receipes for egg-plant and many of them are mouth-watering ones! Brinjal Bhurta is quite popular dish in North India. The egg-plant greens have certain poisons in them which can be checked up by visiting: http://www.botanical.com/botanical/mgmh/p/potato65.html http://www.botanical.com/botanical/mgmh/t/thorna12.html http://www.botanical.com/botanical/mgmh/n/nighde05.html Some receipes with egg-plant can be found on http://www.cooks.com/rec/search/0,1-0,egg_plant,FF.html http://www.indiatastes.com/categories/448.html http://www.freerecipe.org/Side_Dishes/Salads/eggplant-salad-recipe.htm http://www.scinet.cc/cgi-bin/picpost/posts/137.shtml In case you would like to grow this plant then info is available on: http://plantsdatabase.com/go/1383/ Important thing here is that egg-plant, say brinjal, should not be taken in anyother manner and should be cooked along with other parts of the plant in castor oil and those recommended spices. Then brinjal is not wind forming; but no one will like the taste when cooked this way. The poisons in egg-plant have been used to cure rheumatism. The medicinal uses given on botanical.com websites do include this fact. Further, another variety, popularly known as 'Dhatura' in India, highly toxic, is also used as rheumatism medicine in tribal practice. By the way, the effective medicine for vata is castor oil, which is mixed with other foods so that ingestion becomes easy. My mom used to add this oil to 'Chapati' atta while kneading the dough. This cured my chronic constipation. Regards Dr. Bhate ayurveda, Guru Khalsa <greatyoga> wrote: > Dear Dr. Bhate, > > I wish you would explain furthur about using the eggplant.
