There is sour taste and there is sour taste - this is one of my

favorite subjects and I will post some ideas on the general subject

of Pitta dosha and its harm in human life and affairs after few days.

Generally speaking we must analyze what are the major issues in

sexual malfunction to begin with. ´

For both men and women - excess heat, ama, and upward moving apana

vayu are the culprits in most cases - this is the reason that

substances such as shatavari are so useful for womens sexual

malfunctions - all of these issues are related - example apana vayu

will move up when its downward movement is impeded by congested heat

in lower regions - and vise a versa - upward moving apana vayu will

leave the lower regions vulnerable to stagnation of vata, pitta, and

kapha.

One anecdote - in my youth our servant always advised us boys to

take limewater (with sugar)twice a day to relieve sexual pressure of

youth - when my father found this out he was very angry as he always

talked against these methods of dealing with issues. His approach to

unhealthy sexual pressures was to create sattvic condition to cool

the organs therefore making the sexual function more natural and

controllable. And he always said "how can one counteract pitta with

more pitta or rajas with more rajas it is not intelligent".

Amalaki is a balanced dosha substance which does not disturb pitta

dosha it is as a matter of fact one of the best substances for

reducing excess pitta dosha especially when combined with other

pitta reducing substances - this is why Triphala is one of the

worlds most effective medicines for balancing all doshas - Triphala

removes the excess pitta dosha in the intestines by helping to

reverse the upward moving apana vayu - one of the most common issues

in us all. This is also the reason why substances like

Chavanaprasham are useful for so many because they are balanced in

their ability to stabalise all dosha functions - even when the

individual might be taking excess dosha imbalanceing substances.

Great minds have analysed all of these issues long before and the

study of balancing Pitta dosha is one of the secrets of human

success - especially for those of us with Pitta prakruti. Lord

Krishna has a sublime comment on this subject which I will go into

later.

Also for those of us who are devotees of the Lord His admonitions

take precedence over all others as He is the ultimate authority of

human existance. Gita is a guide book for life that Ayurvedic

scriptures can only confirm and make comment on - they do not

supercede ever. My father said on this subject - Gita and Vedas

supported by Ayurvedic texts give mankind everything necessary for

health and happiness. This is also my experience. The great

advantage to this approach is that it is an emperical system that

can and must be tested and varified by each individual - such as the

validity of sour taste and its potential for seperating us from our

true self.
