Guest guest
I had posted this message some time back but apparently missed many eyes; hence posting again I am interested in knowing the foods of daily consumption (like cereals, fruits, vegetables, milk and milk products etc) which are incompatible and not advised to be taken together as per ayurveda . It would also be helpful if the kind of vikriti these are likely to cause and exceptional cases where they may be consumed together is made known. This has been figuring in bits and pieces in many mails and if a comprehensive list is made available, I think all would benefit. Sorry, if the reply to this is already available in earlier messages. Guest guest
Dear Vineet, One of the reasons your earlier message did not elicit any response is that is no such comprehensive list is available. Though I do beleive quite a few people have worked on this topic nothing has been published so far. The concept of Incompatible foods has been mentioned in many texts especially Charak Samhita. As is the norm Charak has given broad guidelines and left it to the reader (a person who has read the text in its entirery and not just this part)to mkae informed decisions. Which foods are incompatible with each other depends on many factors like their rasa (taste), veepak (state after digestion), veerya (active principle)etc. Also some foods become incompatible only if mixed or cooked in a certain mannner and not otherwise. This is a very vast topic but I will try to make what I hope will be a starting list based on the information available in Charak Samhita. If anyone has come across such work done previously please post information about it. Cybervaidya
