Guest guest
Hi everyone, Glad to have found your group. A little intro on myself- I have beeen sick for 14 years with an ailment called "Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome". I am 28 years old female. My doctors in USA are suspecting it might have been caused due to mercury toxicity and combined with intracellular bacterial infections like mycoplasma and other infections like toxoplasmosis, eptein barr virus, coagulase negative staph. I dont have any current active infections right now, but they suspect that my immunesystem is unable to attack them now and hence there are no active infections shown in the lab tests, but that their damage is still going on as indicated by my troublesome symptoms and that of the lab tests indicating very porr metabolism, low blood volume, orthostatic intolerance, adrenal weakness, hypothalamus pituitary axis malfunction. My symptoms are extreme fatigue and weakness, taking a shower daily feels very difficult as my symptoms increase on standing a bit or walking a bit (This is not due to deconditioning- we tested and found even a mild exercise is detrimental to my body as indicated by the very low oxygen transport). I rest all day at home unable to do any meaningful activity, dependant on others for help. I have a lot of cognitive difficulty. My head feels very heavy and foggy. Hence concentration on a conversation or reading a book is very very difficult. I find it hard to focus and brain gets very tired quickly. I have shortness of breath, more so on standing and walking and lot more symptoms. I recently went to an ayurvedic nursing home ( a very good reputable one) in kerala for 7 weeks treatment. They did Abhyanga, Navarakizhi, Dhara, pichu. They did not explain the nature of my symptoms as to what dosha I am etc. They were trying things on a trial and error basis. After teh treatment I was given the following medications to be taken for 3 months. I am yet to see a progress. I saw some 5% improvement afte rteh treatment but that tooo seems like fading. This is my treatment program there. 1. Abhyangam- first 2 days and last 14 days. 2. Saksheeram Navarakizhi- 12 days 3. Thaila dhara for 14 days 4. Pichu - 14 days 5. one day of Mathravasti with Pippalayadi. The oil used for the body was Sahacharadi thailam and Brahat Narayana thailam. For the head, they used Asaneladi thailam and Brahat Nirgunyadi thailam. Thye have asked me to take the follwing medicine for 3 months. Can someone please tell in what way these herbs will help me? I am yet to see a benefit. 1. Dadimashtakam with buttermilk before breakfast 2. SiddaMakaradwajam + Brahmarasayanam after lunch (I take 2 small packets of SiddaMakaradwajam in 2 spoons of Brahmarasayanam) after lunch 3. Sathavaree gritham, Manasamithram, Dhanwantri followed by Jeevanthee Ksheeram at night 4. Brahat Nirgunyadi, Asaneladi thailam for head 5. Sahacharadi thailam and Brahat Narayana thailam for body. Thanks a lot for your replies, I greatly appreciate it, Gayu.
Guest guest
Namaste Gayu! Seems like you may have a lot of Ama, in which case Shatavari ghritam is usually proscribed. However many of the other medicines are generally of the beneficial kind. I am from Kerala and there are lot of good ayurvedic panchakarma centres springing up; but the KEY point is to find out a outstanding vaidya (who are very rare and are also not well advertised). But since you stay in the US, you may want to consult with Dr. Vasant Lad. Whatever they say about Lad ( he has his share of critics), he is an outstanding doctor, who I think has siddhi in healing (his amazing insights have fascinated many students, and he has many ayurvedic shishyas who have dropped their pre-med program to focus on ayurveda- that should tell you something). Other things- 1) one of the first line of attacks should be a proper breathing technique; many of the symptoms that you describe can be attributed to hyperventilation. There are several good books on breathing (eg by Robert Fried : Breath well be well) and I would seriously advice you to take some breath training. See how many times you breath in a minute, I will bet that you breath rate is more than 20 times per minute (which can cause many of the symptoms you describe) 2) important to combine wholistic healing with mantra practice. The maha-mrityumjaya mantra is the foremost mantra for healing all kinds of illnesses- for quick effect it must be chanted several thousand times a day (at least a 1000 times same place, same time and preferably before sunrise). I have first hand experience of its healing effects from a chronic ailment. 3) Lastly everybody's healing journey is unique and I want to urge you to plod on to get totally healed. Guest guest
Namaste, I had the treatment done in Vaidyarathnam Nursing home in Trissur. I heard from a lot of folks(inclusing Ayurvedic physicians) that this was very good hospital. My only concern when I was there, was that the doctors were dismissing my symptoms as though I was a hypochondraic and the cheif physician is very very hot tempered that I could not talk to him openly about my symptoms. Thanks for your recommendation on Dr. Lad. I have leart a lot of breathing exercises from a yoga teacher. Since I am mainly bedbound most of the time and have very little energy to accomplish my daily chores, I find it hard to do these breathing exercises regularly. But I do deep breathing (deep abdominal breathing all the time). I never do shallow breathing. And we did Mmrityumjaya homam (ritual done with fire and reciting mantras by several Branhmins) at home in 2000 along with Sudarshana homam for helping me heal. I do listen to vedic chanting. I find it hard to chant aloud as I feel short of breath. Thanks for telling me your testimony. Thanks Gayu.
Guest guest
Hi, I had one more question on this same thread of mine. Below, I had written about the list of herbs that the doctors prescribed for me. I am taking everything except for SiddaMakaradwajam as I am concerned about the purity of this preparation. I came to know that this is made of mercury, sulphur, Gold. I also read in a few articles that the mercury needs to be prepared in a certain way to become harmless. I asked the doctors in the nursing home about this and they dismissed me saying I was too analytical. I am already undergoing treatment for mercury toxicity and hence I was very concerned using this preparation which has mercury in it. So I stopped taking it. Has anyone taken this preparation? Is it very very safe? Thanks, gayu.

That is a really bad doctor!!! > I have leart a lot of breathing exercises from a yoga teacher. But I do deep breathing (deep abdominal > breathing all the time). I never do shallow breathing. Yogic breathing and therapeutic breathing are very different. It is not enough to do deep breathing, but the breath must also be very slow. This is the 5 second solution to feel a high- breath at the rate of 3-4 times or lower every minute and you will feel a rush of endorphins (if you do get the chance, please refer to the book i mentioned). > And we did Mmrityumjaya homam (ritual done with fire and reciting > mantras by several Branhmins) at home in 2000 along with Sudarshana > homam for helping me heal. Thanks for telling m It is good to have someone else doing homas but IMO the greatest benefit comes from chanting oneself. It does not have to be aloud, in fact mental chanting is the best. -yogaman
