It would be a mistake to think that Ayurvedic medicines are something

like beer. These substances are medicines some quite powerful. If the

purpose in taking ayurvedic medicines is to balance the doshas then

taking too much of them can unbalance the doshas in another direction.

Shilajit - vaccha - pippali - guggulu (and many more)are not food

substances they are medicines that have the ability to alter

processes in the body. They can not be thought of as beverages for

drinking.

Why do you want to drink these medicines? Is it that you like the

taste? Why?

2 tbp is about 30 mL

17 oz is about 500 mL

in other words, you would be ingesting 17 times the recommended dose!

arishtam are medicated wines (loaded with sugar i might add), not

recreational beverages

for the latter, I recommend a nice organic cabernet

BonTerra is a nice organic californian winery

and there's also the biodynamically grown Chapoutier wines from France

Caldecott

If one likes the taste of alcoholic beverages with their meals have a

jigger of Draksha before meals - very tasty - and something like

wine. But only in recommended amounts!

The taste is no doubt very good :-) but the reason is that I dont

feel that taking the recommended dose (2 tablespoons) is doing

anything. I have experimented with a infusion of brahmi, shankapuspi,

jatamansi and gotu kola, and observed that if one uses about 10gm of

the herbal mix, there is a noticeable improvement in brainpower

immediately; this led me to believe that arishtams are not effective

(maybe because of the small amount of herbs in 2 tablespoons) in

small doses.

BTW are you an ayurvedic doctor??
