Namaste,

Thank you for allowing me to be a member of this learned group. My

membership here is purely selfish as I am in need of a reputable

ayurvedic practitioner to bring my family and myself into balance and

health.

14 years ago, when I was pregnant with my first child, my brother was

concerned about my health because I was losing weight rather than

gaining, my color became sallow (I am of african-american heritage),

my skin erupted in rashes, and all food or water ingested was very

soon returned, and I had profuse salivation, and mucus build-up in my

system.

He took me to a person he called a 'health guru', who had me stand

several feet from him, examined me in ways I did not understand, then

prescribed a drink for me made from slippery elm. The whole visit

took no more than 5 minutes. The amazing thing is that this drink

relieved my condition, even though it was unpalatble. This experience

introduced me to ayurveda, but only on a superficial level.

In subsequent years, I continued superficial dabbling, but gradually

lost all contact with knowledgeable practitioners. Currently, my

health is suffering due to great stresses that are not removable at

this time, and subsequent depression and unhealthy eating habits. I

do not remember what consitution I was told I had, nor any of the

appropriate foods and practices to bring myself into balance. Thus,

the reason for this post to the learned members of this group.

I would like to get in touch with a reputable ayurvedic practitioner

again to start the process of becoming in balance and improving

healthy body, mind, and soul. Is there a registry of such individuals

by location? I live in the Boston, Massachusetts area, unfortunately

in the city. I would be most appreciative of any suggestions or

recommendations to finding someone who can help me and my family.

humbly yours,

Bev (bhaktin)
