Thank you!!! > Bon i wouldn't rely upon turmeric as a contraceptive Bon i have looked into other herbs with far more potential than turmeric, e.g. Queen Anne's Lace, without much convincing evidence, although some promise turmeric is widely consumed in India as a culinary spice, i am sure, up to amounts of 1 tsp for many on a daily basis, and yet India has a bit of population control problem besides which, the tumeric you have is likely quite old and fairly inert as a medicine (still ok to eat tho), as is most of what is availablr on the market if you are lucky, you might be able to find the fresh rhizomes in your local indian market my friend, colleague and Ayurvedic practitioner KP Singh Khalsa used culinary turmeric powder a lot in his practice, but was challenged by the large doses he needed to prescribe to get clinical results, often starting a 1 tsp and ranging upwards to 2 or 3 tsp or more, 2-3x a day at this dosage turmeric is pretty yucky i prefer the tincture actually, a) b/c the "active constituents i.e. the curcuminoids are alcohol soluble; b) i can use the fresh plant extract in preference to the dry plant, which contains many of the volatile constituent lost on drying; and c) the doses are much lower i can also get organic turmeric tincture to boot btw, a tsp, tbsp, fl. oz., cup, mL, litre etc. is a measurement of volume grains, oz, mg, g, kg is a measure of weight consider how much volume a pile of feathers would take up to equal the same weight as a piece of lead - thus its different for every herb approx 1 tsp of turmeric will be about 2-3 g, depending on how you pack it and how fine the grind is Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
