Dear Bonnie,

I buy a product called Amrit through an ayurvedic company called Maharishi

Ayurveda. The first ingredient is Winter Cherry (ashwagandha), Licorice, Giant

Potato, White Musale, Indian Gooseberry (Amalaki), Heart-Leaved Moonseed

(Guduchi), Indian Asparagus, Indian Wild-Pepper, Aloeweed, Elephant Creeper,

Black Musale, Caper Plant, Indian Gum Arabic Tree. This is an excellent

product, thats good for the mind, brain and nerves, which also promotes vitality

and inner strength. I've taken it and has made a difference for me.

Unfortunately, I'm not taking it now, because it does contain licorice, which

isn't good to use if you're having surgery.

The Maharishi website is www.mapi.com & their number is 1-800-255-8322. Give

them a call and ask them to send you what they have on Amrit, ask to have them

send you their promotional vhs video (no dvd avail) that discusses its benefits

further. Ask them to also send you their catalogue and samples of their teas.

All in all they have a pretty good line with some excellent products (teas,

aromatherapy, spa, gourmet, etc.) They also have a product called Blissful

Sleep, which is non-habit forming and all natural, but to play it safe, double

check with your M.D. before taking anything in addition to what you are already

using.

Concerning sleep and anxiety, have you ever considered doing a form of Yoga? I

live in NYC and after 9/ll many here have experienced different forms of anxiety

& depression. As a Yoga practioner, I can say that it has helped many

individuals having difficulty getting to sleep, anxiety & more. Yoga is also a

nerve strenghtener. PS-- Meditating is also helping me get through my

pre-surgery worries.

I hope this helps.

I believe I already ordered Blissful sleep, it is being shipped as we speak!

I do Yoga and meditate every day, I listen to tapes at bedtime, that promise

deep sleep. I fall asleep okay but, once I awaken, I am up. Then I get

tired at 5ish and need to sleep. So I get another fours hours or more. 9:

20, every morning I wake up. Half the day is gone by then. This doesn't

always happen, but I am not going to fret over it anymore, or let it make me

crazy. If I sleep I sleep, and if I don't I don't. I have literally

searched to the end of the earth for solutions. I do believe I need a past

life regression, or some way to find out why I can't sleep, instead of

loading myself up with prescriptions. I go to the gym as well, lift

weights, do cardio etc.! I still have a high energy level, despite all that

is going on, especially this non eating thing. Geesh, by right I should be

dead!!! I never thought of licorice, and the reason would be??? I also do

Reiki, and meditation with that. I have a way to go, but this coming July

if all goes well, and I feel I am ready, I shall become a Reiki master! I

always think your joy is never lost as long as your are alive! You teach in

the City? It is only an hour away by train for me, to Grand Central. It

takes an hour to get to my station in Ct. But not bad!! I was considerating

a teacher course with Ravi Singh, it was supposed to start this month, but I

haven't heard anything yet. Thank you for this information.

As a Pitta, which of the Amrit would be good for me?? They all contain

different ingredients! Sounds good for my mother! I have no idea where to

put her. She needs more breathing space and much strength, she is so thin

and weak, and her mind is pretty much gone, she has dementia! I thank God

everyday it isn't Alzheimer's. She is 85 with emphysema. Her skin is like

paper, and if she weighs 90 lbs soaking wet, I will eat my shirt. She is

wasting away before my eyes.
