Guest guest
Sounds good to me!! I don't take root tea, doesn't taste as good. I like the throat comfort, and I also use the Baja for sleep, and add a green tea bag as well. I include a licorice tea bag with two others, is this harmful to me??? > Bon The medicinal use of licorice root in both Western and Eastern cultures dates back several thousand years. Licorice is particularly useful in treating premenstrual syndrome (PMS). PMS has been attributed to an increase in the estrogen-to-progesterone ratio. Licorice is believed to lower estrogen levels while simultaneously raising progesterone levels. Licorice Root is a restorative and stimulant for the adrenal glands. It contains cortisone-like elements similar to the adrenal hormones. For menopause, it is thought that the estrogen-like activity of licorice is responsible for many of its beneficial effects, but its effects on progesterone levels may also be important. Though being powerful adrenal stimulant and wonderful estrogenic herb, care must be taken, not to take licorice too often, or it can deplete potassium and elevate blood pressure. If you have high blood pressure, use it with caution or avoid it entirely. On the other hand, if you suffer from low blood pressure, this herb will be useful in correcting the problem. Licorice makes a pleasant- tasting tea. It can also be added in small amounts to other herbal teas to improve their flavor. Since you are combining it with Yogi Tea, you are already making it safer. For hot flashes, drink 1-2 cups of licorice tea or taking 500- 1,000 mg in tablet or capsule form daily. Or take 1/2-1 teaspoon of tincture, twice daily. In summary, if you can regularly (say every sunday morning, just after getting up) monitor B.P. or pulse in case you have obtained skill (gift?)in estimating B.P. from pulse, you can exceed the above doseage. Without worrying about B.P., upto 10 gms root powder per day (spread over 2-3 times) is safe, even during pregnancy. With Honey, it becomes further safe. The sugar content in both is easily digestible. Just take 2-3 pinches and see how you feel in head. If you enjoy, your prakruti will be benifitted. ( do not compare the effect of intoxicants; you should feel enjoyable calm.). Execess dose will show up in swelling on feet, below ankle bone, etc. Supervision of a Vaidya, however, cannot be substituted by self wisdom. Ayurveda secret is benificial combination of herbs and "Anupana" to remove toxicity or other dangers. Yeshtimadhu when combined with Harde, Chandan (Sandal), Aamla, Isabgol forms a pitta pacifying, anti-acid-reflux, mild laxative. Without decreasing the "Agni".
