Thanks Dr. Bhate and Dr. Todd. What are the problems with fresh Amlaki

fruits stored in fridge. I normally buy 7-10 days requirement at a time and

store in fridge.

I have tried an experiment with Amlaki last year. For about 4 months

(Nov-Feb) I consumed 5 fruits roasted and made into paste and a spoonfull of

Chyavanprash every morning for breakfast, allowed time till lunch for

digestion. I noticed two major changes. I used to get boils on my body with

acute itching which stopped and it helped greatly with my synus problem.

This year I have been having the same combination since August (time fresh

Amlaki becomes available) and plan to continue till fresh fruit is available

(Mar). I had expected it to help with my constipation, but it has not made

any significant difference. I have also made a Rasayan by soaking Amlaki

powder in Amlaki swaras for 30 days and hope to use this Rasayan mixed with

honey and cow ghee for the rest of the year. Any suggestions ?

Dear Vinod,

Thanks for sharing your Amalaki experience with group.

The conclusion of a recent research is that the food items stored in

fridge for long time develop certain bacterial culture, despite the

cold storage temperatures. Though Amalaki is ancti-microbial,

antifungal as supported by your own boil-itching experience, nature

has provided stronger and stronger species for another species as

threat.

The amalaki is a good liver tonic, causes secretion of additional

bile and therefore digestion, thus clearing sinus problems. However,

for reducing hard cosnstipation, it needs to be mixed with Vibhitaki

and Harde, making a 'Trifla' powder.

As the file stored by Dr. Todd shows, Amalaki powder is a 'Vajikaran

Rasayana' when mixed with swaras, cow ghee and honey.

This rasayana sometimes with additional powders/juices, is used by

several tribal women to eliminate menstrual problems such as

leucorrhea, menorrhagea (which cause under eye dark circles in some

women) and also post-menopause problems.

For preparing concentrated amalaki powder, sprinkle swaras on powder

and let it dry. Repeat this sprinkling and drying process as many

times as desired, increasing the concentration.

Regards

Dr. Bhate
