Guest guest
Yes, ayurveda has a number of herbs useful for kidney stones. The ailment is termed 'Ashmari'. Depending on your doshic imbalance, an expert will diagose the type of stone, and synthesize the formulation or patent medicines from Pharmacies. Contact with nearby practitioner will be most benificial. In case this is not possible, and if you can obtain some herbs and Bhasmas yourself, go ahead with following: 1. Bang Bhasma: 100 mg 2. Suvarna Bangbhasma: 100 mg 3. Vayavarna powder: 500 mg 4. Punarnava powder: 1000 mg 5. Kadu powder (Kutaj): 500 mg 6. Rasayan Churna: 1000 mg 7. Gomutrakshar: 300 mg All seven ingredients to be mixed, finely powdered and taken in the proportion indicated, every 4 hours from morning till night. ( 4 packets a day). Amongst the above, the purpose of each ingredient is as follows: Rasayan Churna aids the passage of urine. Punarnava is added to remove reduce the internal swelling of the urinal passages, if any. Kadu removes the dosahas which have got mixed with Sapt-Dhatus. Bang bhasma removes constrictions in the urinal passage. Suvarna bang bhasma removes pus and infections if any. Gomutraksha and Vayavarna both cause the breakage of kidney stones. Vayavarna, in addition, increases urine output, breaks tumors. One more herb called 'Pashanbhed' comes to mind when topic of Stones is being discussed. However, Vayavarna is equally effective. A supportive pharmacy preparation is 'Gokshuradi Guggulam' or 'Chandraprabhavati': 2 tabs (125 mg each) slightly chewed and swallowed with warm water, 3x daily. This will reduce the pain also. If you have a Panchgavya therapy centre nearby, use of Punarnavadi Ark and Tablet by same name is suggested. The cow scietists have prepared this med. for helping cases with 'renal failure', wherein one or both kidneys have failed to almost 90%. Most north indian towns where cows are looked after in large numbers have these medicines available. HOwever, a concise directory of distributing centres is not yet available. Since Aayurveda does not use Ultrasonics reports, the formulations have been designed when urine output falls drastically due to any reason such as Prostate enlargement, stones, infections, internal swelling of urinal passage. The above formulation, being general and without recourse to specific dosha imbalance, will take care of all these problems, though not most optimally. Diet containing less of proteins (especially animal proteins) helps. Water boild out 25%and cooled (not in fridge) for drinking throught the day will also be useful. Drink adequate water. Substitution of iodized salt by ordinary sea salt also helps. Fruits containing more of water percentage are also generally recommended. If problem is known with definiteness, one can alter the above receipe. However, for this advantage, contact with a practitioner is more benificial. If you inform your location, and wish to know a nearby practitioner, ayurveda may help. Regards Dr. Bhate
