Guest guest
Hello! I've been enjoying this group and can't wait to learn more about Ayurveda. My first exposure to it was from Deepak Chopra. I just ordered several books, x-mas presents for myself! I have been using ginger, but was wondering if anyone could recommend warming herbs. I am a kapha/vata combo and constantly cold. My body temp NEVER actually reaches 98.6 and my psoriasis gets worse in cold weather. Is there a good herbal blend? Should I be eating more cooked foods? I tend to eat salads and cold tuna fish or cold salmon for weight loss/ anti-candida diet, but I crave hot, cooked foods, especially anything with gravy. Things like stews, casseroles, etc. This New England weather is the pits... Marcie : ) " I kept looking for a logic that would explain life. Guest guest
Mr / Ms ISE777, etc...... Who has made the diagnosis that you are Kapha / Vata ? You are perhaps Tridoshik, if you have Psoriasis, that is presuming your initial diagnosis is correct., as Pitta disordes lead to skin diseases. You may have Pitta / Kapha disorder( growths / secretions), Pitta / Vata disorder of skin ( depending on the amount of secretion, or lack of it) or you may be tri-doshik. Guest guest
Marcie it sounds like you live in the wrong place ;-) You definitely need to "warm up" your diet by eating warm soupy broths, with lots of culinary spices, steamed and baked vegetables but nothing raw or fried. Btw candida is a symptom of ama, and so you should implement an "amapachana" regimen, by using dipanapachana herbs like ginger, pippali, and barberry (to help 'eat and cook' the ama), along with immune boosters like echinacea and pau d'arco regular exercise, steam baths etc, can all be helpful avoid all sugar, dairy, flour and fruit at this point, strictly, for at least a month and a half, and then slowly introduce fruit back into your diet i would also get your thyroid checked, looking at both TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) as well as free T3 for the most accurate testing if your thyroid is out of whack then the above herbs will still bet helpful, but would kick in some seaweeds (10-15 g daily), vitamin B complex, copper, zinc, magnesium, fat soluble vitamins (AEDK) its probably a good idea to avoid soy, beans, and cruciferous vegetables that downregulate thyroid function for the skin take the omega 3 fatty acids (= to 1000 mg EPA and DHA daily) there may be skin specific remedies as well, but I would expect your condition to gradually improve by looking at these factors. best...
