My LDL is at 130, HDL at 56 and VLDL at 24. Triglycerides at 125. Have no

fat around the abdomen (marginal). The cooking oil used is Olive oil. Very

little consumption of dairy products and sugar. I do consume 5 fresh anwla

either in whole or juice form for about 6 months in a year. Although a

trained Yoga teacher, my practice of yoga is irregular and other exercises

non existant.

Regarding your other question about ayurvedic resources its not entirely

clear as to what information are you seeking. But if there is anything you

can use from my nursery of about 150 medicinal plants or a farm with

thousands of naturally growing medicinal plants (trees, shrubs, herbs and

climbers) you are most welcome.

even marginal amounts can be indicative of insulin resistance.

Perhaps a better question would have been do you still have the waist

you had in your late-teens or early 20's? Even 5-10 lbs that

represents nothing more that the proverbial 'love handles' is enough

indication of insulin resistance and hyperinsulinemia. even elderly

folks in primitive societies tend to maintain the hip:waist ratio they

had in youth

glad to hear you use olive oil, although make sure its not 'pumice'

oil, or olive oil mixed with canola.

IMO, the true test to see if you can reduce dyslipidemia is to eat a

sustained low carb diet for at least 2 months and then get your blood

tested again. you can find the diet I recommend here:

http://www.wrc.net/phyto/paleodiet.html

or something similar to a healthy version of the Atkins diet,

emphasizing high quality meats and fats, and lots of above ground

vegies - dramatically reduce all carbs, including root vegies...

if you are a vegie I'm not sure you'll be able to correct the dynamic

In the meantime, all the herbs I mentioned, plus omega3 fatty acids

(epa/dha, 1000 mg ea/d), chromium (200 mcg 3x/d) and magnesium (800

mg/d).

not exactly ayurvedic, but it works...
