Guest guest
Hello Todd I read your inputs and suggestions with great interest. Since I too am a great believer in the healing power of Ayurved, I shall do some reading on crude Indian Herbs and get back to you. Meanwhile please let me have your advise on how to get rid of extreme pain and burning in my toes while walking for an extended length of time or even standing for longish hours. I have been told that it might be a condition caused by impairment of nerves. Please suggest a remedy. Thank you Sudha

Guest guest
Dear Sudha removal of cause is fundamental to success, so it may be advisable to not engage in these activities for awhile failing this you might consider stretching and yoga postures, posture correction (through yoga and also other techniques, e.g. chiropractic, massage, feldenkrais, cranialsacral) and orthotics orthotics can be particularly helpful in conditions like plantar fascitis, which may be a factor in your complaint at all costs avoid restrictive shoes, support the heel and arch and let your toes breathe... when you stand try not to lock the knees, and let your but, quads and calves take the weight you might also want to increase your consumption of omega 3 fats (to down regulate inflammation), 5 g daily INMHO omega 3 fatty acid deficiencies are very common among Indian folks, primarily b/c many have been told not to eat good oils like coconut and ghee (b/c of an irrational correlation between these fats and a risk of CVD), which are far better than canola, gingelly and other supposedly "edible" oils... lose any extra weight that you may have (which places undue pressure on your lower limbs) and apply medicated oils such as Murivenna taila, Chandanadi taila or Pinda taila inverted yoga postures may also help, especially after a long day of standing as well as alternating hot and cold water hydrotherapy do you have diabetes, or truncal abdominal weight? if so, the condition may be related to peripheral neuropathy. Herbs like Shilajit and Ashvagandha may be helpful for the nerve damage specifically Caldecott phyto http://www.wrc.net/phyto
