Guest guest
Hello! So nice to find this list!! I've read some Ayurvedic books and find myself confused as to what to do. My physical body is quite kapha- heavy, round, wide hips. I need to lose a few dress sizes, that is for sure! (size 16-18) But I also come up with much Vata as personality. I tend to have low blood pressure and low blood sugar and I get very weak from 1-4 in the afternoon. I am forever cold- my body really craves dry heat. I have all the symptoms of chronic candida, a fungal infection which can cause symptoms of low body temperature, psoriasis, hypglycaemia, hypothyroidism, hypoadrenia, etc. Because kapha and vata are so opposite I am confused as to what diet/herbs to use to bring myself into balance. For now I am taking lots of ginger and garlic. Nice to be here! Many people after going through a body type questionaire are confused as to exactly what body type they are. Try to keep the following ideas in mind when you take a body type/dosha questionaire. In Ayurveda there is "prakruti", which is your natal or birth body/dosha balance, that was determined at conception and except under rare circumstances, does not change during your lifetime. (note: most people are a combination of body types) There is also "vikruti", or current dosha balance. There is also your physical dosha type in addition to your mental dosha type. So it is possible to have a kapha type body yet have indications of imbalanced vata. Most introductory books on Ayurveda go into this in more detail. Books by Dr. Vasant Lad, Dr. David Frawley or Dr. Robert Svoboda would be good Ayurvedic books to learn more about prakruti and vikruti (you may see slightly different spellings). Dr. Frawleys book "Ayurvedic Healing, a comprehensive guide", has some more information on candida along with treatmemt plans. Remember, it's always a good idea to see a licensed health care practitioner before you start any self treatments. Good luck.
