Guest guest
Hello Everyone, I'm new to this group and fairly new to Ayurveda. I'm not quite sure whom to direct my questions to, so I will pose them to the group. I'm a kapha in constitution and overweight, at 330 pounds. I visited an herbalist who introduced me to Ayurveda and left me with herbs to help my digestive system and help prevent some diseases that go along with obesity. (I assume, not very advanced in knowledge about the herbs) He took the time to explain some basic things about Ayurveda regarding food intake and wellness. I'm intensely interested. I have not changed very much of my old eating habits (I eat cheese, red meat and pork as well as drinking milk and so on) He also advised me not to go out and give up everything at once and start a completely new eating regimine as it would throw me once again out of balance. So here is my question: I'm in OA (over- eaters anonymous) I want to start abstinence(stop all compulsive eating and cutting back to three meals a day) I've purchased an Ayurvedic cookbook and I've made a "plan of eating" for a week. I want to start this on Monday. Evey week making a plan for the entire week, grocery shopping, eating three meals a day according to my constitution. I guess my question is... 1)Am I moving too fast from one way of eating to another? What will the change of eating exactly do? and 2) Are 3 meals a day with no snacks in between too little? and 3) Should foods always be eaten on a empty stomach? Or is it okay to make a eating schedule and stick to it? I understand that this isn't an over-eaters anonymous forum, but because ayurveda deals with wellness based on intake of food I figure it is an appropriate question. I will appreciate all the suggestions I can get. Book recommendations as well. Thank you. Brena
