Guest guest
Dear Mr. Venkatssubramanian, The oil most commonly used for the treatment of Vitiligo is Bakuchi or Bavachi taila. Bakuchi is a single ingredient. This oil is applied on the affected parts and the patient is made to sit in the sunlight for about 20 minutes. This should be done shortly after sunrise. After a few days, the affected area will form blisters or bullae. These bullae are filled with a clear fluid. These bullae should be burst with a sterile needle and the wound should be treated like any other wound. This is what is mentioned in the texts. But the best results are achieved only if the vitiligo is less than 1 year duration. There are many other anointments described. Cows urine is also one of the ingredients in these preparations. This is as far as topical treatment is concerned. Oral medication includes a lot of herbs like Khadir, Neem, Asana, Vidanga etc. Panchakarma therapy includes Virechana or purgative therapy and Rakta mokshana or blood letting. Vardhaman Bakuchi can also be considered after the treatment is complete. This involves consuming Bavachi seeds in an increasing quantity everyday, reaching a maximum and then reducing the quantity and finally stopping it.
