Guest guest
Not until you exceed reasonable dose, 2 TABS TWICE A DAY. This is on the basis of tab 3 mm dia. spherical size. On the other hand, it is turmeric powder, taken 1/2 tsp twice a day from day 1 to day 8 of cycle, causes ovum to become infertile. This method has been used for family planning by many tribals in INDIA. Regards Dr. Bhate
Guest guest
I am taking neem tablets (Himayala Ayurveda Concepts) for treating my lichen planus condition - self medication - not suggested by any doctor but my own research over the internet. I don't plan on getting pregnant anytime soon but I would like to make sure that I am doing any permenant damage. I am glad you mentioned neem oil. I bought some neem tablets made by jliherbals which are neem oil capsules. I am puncturing them and using the oil for external application. I was planning on taking the capcules once I ran out my other neem tablets. Any suggestions on which brand is the best for neem leaf capsules?? And will it help with my lichen planus condition. Thanks for your help! Naveena
Guest guest
Dear Naveena, I think that Neem is a useful choice for your condition, but perhaps could be expanded to include some other herbs and strategies that may be more specific for you. Neem is a bitter, very cooling herb, best for hot and congested conditions with active inflammation, or in infectious conditions. What are the specific symptoms of your condition? is there redness, swelling and ulceration, well, then Neem is a good choice. Is it dry and itchy - hmm, then Neem needs to be balanced with some other herbs. I've seen a few cases of lichen planus and there is considerable variability in the individual manifestation. Lichen planus has no known cause, but I believe that it is not all that dissimilar from any other chronic skin condition like eczema: certainly there is no major difference in medical treatment, with a reliance upon corticosteroids. In chronic conditions like this you need to look for underlying causes, such as dietary factors (incl. common allergens such as dairy, flour, citrus etc.), autotoxicity (i.e. ama, heavy metals), infectious causes (e.g. yeasts, parasites), nervous system disorders (e.g. stress), and nutrient deficiencies (omega 3s, D3, A, C, E, Bs etc). . At the least I would go on an elimination diet for at least 2-3 months, supplement with the vitamins I mentioned, and then take the Neem. You might also consider other non-threatened Ayurvedic herbs such as Turmeric and Gotu Kola. Unfortunately some of the best Indian herbs such as Katuka or Kushta are grown in the Himalayas and are under serious threat from greedy or desperate people. Suitable cleansing Western herbs would include Burdock, Red Clover, Nettle, Oregon Grape, Blue Flag, Sarsaparilla, and Heartsease. I would also tend to include something to support the nervous system, such as Ashvagandha, Gotu Kola, and Brahmi, or Western/Chinese herbs such as Reishi, American Ginseng, Milky Oats, Skullcap, Chamomile, Licorice etc. Topically, a salve made with herbs such as Comfrey, Plantain, St. John's, Licorice etc. can also be useful. best...
