Guest guest
My ecema drove me distracted (itching) to the point of going to an allopathic doctor. An ayurvedic doctor said it was pitta and I surmise that this was the Ama coming out. My question is, when the form of the Ama coming out is very unpleasant, is it workable to drive it back in the body with allopathic medicine then apply ayurvedic measures, perhnaps pancha karma, to expel the Ama through the bowels? Guest guest
NO! Although Ayurveda states that this ama, it is in fact a shadow of ama, an indication that ama is there. Hydrocortisone doesn't drive it deeper, it simply supresses the knowledge there is some kind of dysfunction, i.e. the eczema is your body's way of telling you that you have ama. So, treat the ama by making the correct dietary shifts (no dairy, flour, sugar), promote elimination (via kidneys and liver) and enhance agni. In the meantime a mediated ghee made with barberry can be helpful when applied topcially, as will the omega 3 fats I've already discussed in previous posts. Internally Bhringaraj, Guduchi, Daruharidra (Barberry), Haridra (Turmeric) or Yellowdock with a little Ginger will help greatly, over a period of weeks.
