Your hair needs to be cared for and protected if it is to remain your crowning glory. In ayurveda, the solution for most hair problems is really quite simple. Give your hair tender loving homegrown care, every day. Just follow some basic lifestyle tips, and you will soon own hair that turns heads. Ayurvedic hair care tips Here are some simple tips that will transform your locks from lack- luster to lush: * An energizing and circulation-boosting pre-bath scalp massage with warm oil can work wonders on limp lifeless hair. Try almond, coconut or olive oil, gently warmed. Massage the scalp as well as the strands of hair and leave the oil on for as long as you can before you shampoo. * Find natural ways of removing problems like dandruff and hair loss at the root. Maharishi Ayurveda's Healthy Scalp herbal tablets, for instance, contain Claradendron infortunatum, Eclipta Alba and other nourishing ayurvedic herbs that will cleanse your scalp from the inside out. * The rich lather and strong fragrance of a chemicals-based shampoo no doubt feel good in the short-term, but can damage your hair over time. Use shampoos and conditioners that are really and truly natural. * Build small hair-friendly changes into your daily menu. Instead of popcorn, eat fresh fruit. Don't snack on candy: eat soaked blanched almonds instead. Add a little fresh grated coconut to fruit salads or rice pudding. Drink lots of warm water through the day. * Get good sleep, and enough of it. Ayurveda believes that mind, body and spirit are all intimately linked; therefore what is good for one is also good for other aspects of your life. Sleeping well will not only make you feel rested, but also nourish your physiology from within. This means all areas of your being benefit, including your hair. * Stress can be seriously injurious to long-term health and color of hair. Try and manage your time and tasks to minimize time-related pressures. Seek out tranquil sights in nature to help restore balance to your mind. Listen to uplifting music. * Never attack wet hair with a brush, no matter how rushed for time you are. Tangles in wet hair are best removed with a wide-toothed wooden comb. Excessive blow-drying can damage hair in the long-term, making it brittle and causing split ends. If you can, let your hair dry naturally, then brush into place. * Last, but not least, brushing your hair regularly to stimulate the scalp will keep it looking healthy and lustrous. Brush each night in all directions in turn -- left to right, right to left, front to back and back to front. Use smooth long strokes from scalp to hairtips.
