Guest guest
Dear Dr. R. Lakshmanan, Sai Rama ! Ayurveda has vast knowledge about mental functions & abnormalities related with it. only Ayurveda has discussed about the involvement of Mana in the pathogenesis of diseases. According to ayurveda there are three doshas, namely Vata, Pitta & Kapha & Seven dhatus namely Rasa, Rakta, Mansa, Meda, Aasthi, Majja & Shukra. there is Oja which is the essence of all seven dhatus & its balance is related directly with the mental & physical immunity. mental disorders are mainly due to vitiated stage of Vata, & Pitta. & it results in to vitiated stage of Rasa dhatu (RASAVAHINI DUSHANTI CHINTYANAM CHA AATI CHINTANAT = too much stress results in to vitiation of Rasadhatu & Majja dhatu) treatment generally should be to balance the vitiated Vata, Pitta dosha & Rasa dhatu. u can also give certain Rasayanas to balance Ojas which in creases mental as well as physical immunity. with regards Vd. Guest guest
dear friends , thank you all very much for patiently providing feedback on my query regarding mental illness in ayurveda. One of you was king enough to point out that i should get to know what ayurveda is all about and then try to understand what it has got to offer in the mental illnesses and their treatment. i agree with u and that remains very much a significant art of my future plans. I am aware that every system of medicine requires you train under the direct supervision of trained teachers and an appropriate setup but i would like to know if it is possible to learn ayurveda through distance education. I will be obliged if i get a practical feedback on this. thank you all once again, Dr. R. Lakshmanan
