Dear frater_mercurius,<br>Rudrakshah,coral,simple

woodon beadscan be used in a mala.<br>Rudrakash is

suoppese to be used more for malas.<br>The mala can be

woven into a thread made out of cotton,silver and

gold.Every mala has it's different use.It depends on the

use, if you are going to use it for japa the one with

thread can be used,if for medicinal use you can go for

silver or gold.<br>As for your other questions I will

Thank you for your reply.<br>As I mentioned, I don't know Sanscrit (yet). Can

you explain why mala is translated into English as meaning both a rosary (beads)

and in Ayurveda as wastes?

Dear frater_mercurius,<br>I know about your

questions and I think you must have got some of the answers

too.<br>This is about your querry where you have asked about

the word MALA. I should tell you this very frankly

that MALA=rosary and MALA=Waste(As in Ayurved) are two

different words.<br> First one is MAALA and the next one is

MALA.<br>Due to this additional phonetic 'A' in the first word

makes it a rosary.<br>Prasad.
