Guest guest
As promised, here is a brief outline of Western Spagyrics.
Spagyrics is derived from the Greek meaning "to separate and unite", which refers to the basic processes used in Spagyrics and Alchemy--to separate the principles of a thing, subject them to purification, and reunite them as a healing product.
The philosophy of Spagyrics is similar to Ayurveda. Non-duality enters maifestation as quality and quantity (Parusha and Prakriti). >From them arise four elements, which produce "matter" and in healing have a similar function as Doshas, except they are called the four humors:
http://daphne.palomar.edu/scrout/medical/htm.
These elements combine in various quantities producing the 3 essentials of all things: salt, sulfur and mercury (not the literal compounds and elements). In Spagyrics, these 3 essentials are separated and manipulated according to the desired results. Alchemy has similar rules and processes, but becomes much more complicated and difficult to perform.
An advantage of following Ayurveda, is that little reamins in the West of an authentic unbroken linaeage of the art, wheras Ayurveda is complete and the chain of knowledge has never been broken. I do not want to tie the club up with Spagyrics, since we are focused on Ayurveda--but if anyone has any specific questions, or would like details on some simple methods used in making medicinal elixers, I will answer these
for you.
