I am a nutritionist in Australia. It is possible that the use of low fat

products is causing thisweight problem. Full fat milk powder is 38% sugar,

whereas low fat milk powder is approx 56%. Low fat dairy products are used to

fatten people up, here.

We give children breakfast cereals with no more than 1% added sugar. What is he

eating for Breakfast? Weeties are not too bad - but not as good as genuine

German cereal (ground rye, millet and wheat) eaten with barley or oaten bran,

some seeds and some breakfast grits (lecithin meal, linseed meal, sesame seeds,

soy grits, sunflower meal, hazelnut meal, millet meal).

Its likely the food which he is eating, which is causing the problem. For

dinner, shallow -fried crumbed fish is good, also bits of steak or beef

rissoles. With 3 veg on the side. Rye bread is good, if you can find a good

one. Here, we make our own. Full fat plain yogurt is good. The first thing we

give kids here after school, is a drink of juice and water and two apples,

peeled, slivered and eaten with some chopped cheddar type cheese. Then they

have a sandwich and some milk.

Maybe you could post what you are currently feeding him?

best, Lizzie down in Australia.
